| Sadly, too loud :( |
|
|
Pros
- For middle class users or above - Not for plebes! - Cherry MX switches feel nice to type on - The text on the side of the keys only is a cute gimmick, makes your desk look h-core
|
Cons
- lt's not any "faster'. I already typed 150WPM+ and just had to know if it would be even better.. but no, a mechanical keyboard doesn't magically make you any faster, ninja powers or no. - It's WAY TOO LOUD. Everyone that comes by the home office comments on it. My girlfriend hates it so much and we get into domestics because of it. - I make WAY more mistakes on this keyboard than the old $20 crap keyboard... I thought I would wait a month to see if this improved.. it hasn't.

Summary
I am a Software Engineer and have been using this keyboard(Brown switches) everyday at work for over 7 months. I always get compliments when anyone uses it for a couple of minutes. Really comfortable even when used for prolonged amounts of type. Best keyboard I have ever purchased. Durable, worth the price and really good quality. Overall, an excellent product.

Pros
Very clean looking keyboard, pleasure to type on. Lack of lettering on the keycaps makes the keycaps very smooth to the touch and also nice to rest your fingers on. Cable is the perfect length to get behind the desk to my case, but may be a tiny bit short for some.
|
Cons
Nothing worth noting. Would have liked included blank replacement keycaps for the Windows key since I think the W8 logo looks tacky.
|
Summary
Great no-frills keyboard. Price is worth it and not that expensive considering how costly importing mechanical keyboards can be from abroad.

Pros
Brown switches are the perfect medium between typist (blue, green or white) and gamer (red, black) cherry switch. They are awesome for typing, they perform really well, and within a few weeks use you can tell when the actuation force has been reached, easily avoiding bottoming out the key.
ALWAYS remember that Filco switches are 100% opinion. None are better or worse than another - this is what works for me. If you want to find the switch that works for you, buy a cherry switch tester. (yes, there are other brand switches, but Filco only makes boards with cherry as far as I know).
The build quality of the frame is incredible. The keyboard withstands the "torque test" very well. With reasonable force, it does not seem to want to twist even a millimeter.
If you're a "modder", and you like to change, better, and customize the keyboard, this is for you. Filco keyboards have an immense community support for all sorts of different modifications, so if you're thinking of a change/upgrade, its probably been done and you're likely to find it online. Keycap pullers come with the keyboard, and when I was purchasing this board, it came with two keycap sets. Made it very fun to customize.
|
Cons
Not much to list here, but there are some issues that need addressing (sadly).
The metal board that holds the switches in place loves to ping ever so gently. Whether or not you like it is opinion, but many people have sought to change and eliminate this sound from their boards. Some keys won't ping, but roughly 75% of the letter keys, if bottomed out even slightly, will make the gentle ping. This is an issue that has been extensive, and almost controversial topic on many keyboard enthusiast forums. I don't mind it, but it's definitely not a feature, and this is a keyboard that costs over $100. It should not be making that noise.
Backspace key, upon unboxing, came with a squeak noise. This noise is not made with a direct top-to-down force, but any sort of sideways force on it and it will squeak ever so slightly. Once again, I will just lube it (many guides online) and it will be fixed, but (once again) a board that costs over $100 should not have such an issue.

Summary
In conclusion, this is a great purchase for someone that wants a great, heavy keyboard for their desktop, and hates a numberpad. I am very satisfied with this board, and I hope you will be as well. The features of this board are awesome, and it truly is a joy to type on. I would definitely buy this keyboard again despite the "cons." They simply don't bother me enough.
Just remember, this is for the aficionado, and if you're buying a gift for someone, make sure you know what kind of switch they want and what kind of orientation they're looking for. Make sure it is what you/they find suitable, or you/they won't be happy.
Do not expect to be able to bring this to a super quiet library. Many people agree that brown switches are a TAD too loud for a library setting. If your goal is to have a typist's keyboard in a library, do some more research. You may need to settle for a different switch.

Pros
Very solid board, I really like the side printed keycaps, great middle ground from blanks and printed.
it has a very sturdy build quality
|
Cons
the key caps have left overs from manufacturing like from when they popped them out of the mold, which is unacceptable on a $150 keyboard.

Summary
Really enjoying it. I would recommend this to some one who wants a nice TKL keyboard.

Pros
Wonderful to type on (smooth, tactile keypresses), sleek all-black keytops, matte finish, tenkeyless (takes up less space on desk, can be center-aligned with monitor).
|
Cons
Cord is a bit short (could be one to three feet longer) and I have to use a USB extension cord with it to reach around my monitor to the back of my computer tower.
|
Summary
This keyboard is superb. I use it for a moderate amount of typing as well as gaming. I've had it for about one month, and I really like it. It's very solid and sleek. I imagine it's the keyboard I will use for the next twenty years (if keyboards still exist by then), it is that sturdy. I second-guessed at one point whether I would have preferred the Cherry MX Blue switches for their clicky audio feedback, but I actually find the Browns make enough noise to be satisfying. The only tiny thing I didn't like was how short the cord was. But this is a great keyboard. Oh, and I contacted Filco about the possibility of producing Linux keycaps (they said they don't currently plan to :( ), but they did get back to me very promptly, which I appreciated. They seem to really value their customers.

Pros
Heavy, solid construction. Sleek matte appearance complemented by blank key tops. Not extremely loud. Typing is very comfortable and enjoyable.
|
Cons
A little on the pricy side, but I love mine and do not regret the purchase at all.

Summary
The FIlco Majestouch 2 Ninja is a great quality mechanical keyboard. I was tired of using Apple's bluetooth keyboard with its paper thin chiclet keys, and I'm so glad my decision to switch led me to Filco. This is a solid, high quality keyboard that looks great on my desk and doesn't take up too much space. Other than price, there's really no reason not to buy this piece. Recommended 100%.
Ps. the delivery was ridiculously fast. I was confused why I received a package; I was not expecting my board yet as less than 24 hours had passed since I had ordered it.

Summary
After using my black switch Filco Majestouch 2 keyboard for about a year, I decided to stumble across this keyboard after hearing many good reviews about brown switches. When I started typing and gaming on this keyboard, the feeling was absolutely amazing. I enjoyed the tactile bump and lightness of each press compared to the black. I also like the material used on the ninja keyboard compared to the original smooth texture one, since the ninja has a matte finish. Overall, I highly recommend this keyboard.

Pros
Cherry MX Brown switches (tactile bump, no "click"). Hottest girl on the beach. Feels fantastic. Ninja (key legends are on front of key, not top). Blue Leds.
|
Cons
This board is my "portable" mechanical keyboard. It is tenkeyless (no numpad) and so fits in my bag. Unfortunately, the Cherry switches are mounted on a metal plate, not the PCB (true of every tenkeyless board I know of). This makes the keyboard much more durable, but a bit heavier. Not much of a con, but I wish it was lighter.
|
Summary
NCIX, what took you so long??? :)
This is a great keyboard. It was apparently made by the same OEM that makes the CM Storm Quickfire Rapid tenkeyless keyboard (Costar), however the CM board **didn't work in OS X**; this one works fine.
My new recommendation for PC builders is to spend $150 on a keyboard (yes, a Filco) before spending > $150 on a CPU.
This is my third mechanical keyboard, and I wouldn't recommend anything else. Period.

[A whole new concept keyboard [Majestouch NINJA] for middle class users or above!] Majestouch NINJA is a whole new concept keyboard. New style of letter printing - front printing. The biggest feature of this front printing is this new look that gives a look of "almost" a blank keycap keyboard. This means, printed letters can be seen only from a user and it is seen as a blank keycaps keyboard from others. This untraditional printing method does not expose you for fading letters on keycaps as there are no letters on top face where you actually touch to cause a friction when you type in. You will never feel stress from fading letters that would make your keyboard crummy. On the other hand, as the feature of this keyboard, front printing, is hard to look at the letters. This NINJA is perfect for the users who are confident in touch typing and also for users who feel total blank keycaps keyboard is a bit of a challenge. To make it match to our concept, we omitted the indicators of "Lock, Num, Caps, Scroll" on LED. Also logo is different from normal lineups to go with the concept and in this way, this keyboard looks "almost" completely black!
[Not only appearance but also basic functions have improved!] Double layers is adopted for a new board. Through a hole of each switch has been firmly soldered. With this, it can release any excess load or vibration that you make when you type in to a board not only to a metal plate inside. It enables you to enjoy a better typing feel! We also brought the rate of its data transfer for PC to the highest which provides you faster response. This function as well as N-key rollover meet for the professional gamers.
[You can choose from 6 kinds to match your preference] We have 3 keys available for you to choose, Blue / Brown / Black and you can also choose 104 full size or 87 Ten-keyless version for your scene. A long key stroke of 4mm and the contact point at 2mm between the key strokes. Cherry MX Brown Switch : Known as tactile, there is a very soft click as you reach the contact point. With the light pressure spring, it makes typing action easy, fast and stress free. A long key stroke of 4mm and the contact point at 2mm between the key strokes. [A true N-key rollover] It is the functionality by which all the typed keys are recognized on the PC, evenwhen many keys are typed simulteneously. All the keys typed simulteneously are recognized on the PS/2. (Limited to 6 keys typed simulteneously for the USB due to the specifications of USB.) A completely dedicated electronic circuitry to this model ! On our models a diode is soldered on the printed circuit for every key switch to prevent from countercurrency. [Compatiblity with USB and PS/2] A USB cable is connected to the keyboard. Plug&Play is available on each Windows system. A PS/2 interface is also available to use the PS/2 Conversion Adapter included in the package US ASCII Key Arrangement ***Letter printing on LED has been omitted.
