Packaging was good
|
Screen tearing, A lot of artifacts on screen. Stops working as soon it hits 42C. Black screen, green screen, any color you name it and I have seen it.
|
I am currently using this graphics card using VGA drivers. All AMD drivers starting from 13.12 to 14.7 Beta do not work. Do not buy R9 2XX series.

-high performance card for a reasonable price -great for compute heavy tasks
|
-cheap heatsink plastic
|
The R9 280 is a great chip on itself but im kind of disapointed on the cheap plastic shroud that they put on this card. feels rather cheap given how much you pay for this thing

quiet card, great multi screen support
|
releases heat into case, warranty is garbage
|
Has been a great card for multi screen support with gaming, i have been using it with a tri screen setup which was working great.
Recently i had a flickering issue which i was then told by xfxsupport to update the firmware on the card, this update has since caused the card to crash my pc when playing games.
They said the crashing is due to the card and asked me to RMA it, and when i did they found that a pin was damaged on my HDMI port so they would not honour the warranty (i only use the dvi and both mini display ports so im guessing it was already damaged when i got it)
The card itself is great, but if you ever have an issue they will try their best not to warranty it, this is backed up sadly by other posts on the web.
Worst part is they shipped it back in just its original box, no extra padding or anything, i was worried that the card wouldn't even work at all from the condition of packaging. Considering that when you RMA they recommend that it is sent back well padded to avoid voiding the warranty.....

Quiet Good Performance Warranty, even if you are the second owner.

Long Card. I had to get a new case to hold it. Not the best choice for mining due to insufficient VRM cooling
|
I'm not sure what the previous posted was complaining about, but I received this card as a warranty return after having an XFX DD 7950 burn up. I was not the original owner of the 7950 and XFX still offered to warranty it for me, of which they sent me a brand new 280X! That sounds like good warranty service to me!
As for the card, at idle and even when gaming the card is quiet. Only if you are mining or benchmarking will you notice this card getting excessively loud, but we don't own these cards just to benchmark do we? Also, if you are mining scrypt coins, you also should know by now that XFX is not the brand to buy for the job, so get with the program and spend the money on brands with better VRM cooling. For gaming and everyday use, this card works like a champ.
My only complaint with it is more to do with the drivers. The stock idle clock speeds for this card are 150/300, but whenever you do something that requires the clock speeds of the card to increase (viewing a video on a webpage, etc) the screen will jump, which gets rather irritating. This was mostly fixed by modifying the profile used in CCC and increasing the stock idle clocks a bit.
For gaming, this is a solid choice. I don't need to overclock my card because 60 fps is just fine for the games I play. I don't mine coins anymore so that is irrelevant in my decision to have this card.

-Unlocked voltage -Never Settle finally back -rebate (a bad thing for some people)
|
-Barely outperforms my older XFX 280 (I do mean barely) -For a non-reference heatsink (although relatively cool) it is too loud under load -XFX's warranty, no this is not a good thing
|
Unigine Heaven 4.0 benchmark for my previous XFX 280, and XFX 280x: ----XFX 280---- 1920x1080 8xAA FS Quality: Ultra Tesselation: Extreme FPS: 42.4 Score: 1067 Min FPS: 20.6 Max FPS: 98.7 ----XFX 280x---- 1920x1080 8xAA FS Quality: Ultra Tesselation: Extreme FPS: 46.0 Score 1159 Min FPS: 21.6 Max FPS: 109.4 Decide for yourself if the X is worth the money.

Looks great, quiet, unlocked voltage
|
VRMs way too hot
|
I ordered this card when it was in stock, but the store near me had none, so I had to wait 2.5 weeks to get it.
When mining with this card, the VRM temps get close to 120C, much higher than my Powercolor HD7970. It's mining performance is highly inconsistent, and generally performs worse than either of my 7970s.
If you are mining, don't buy this card. If you are gaming, the VRM temps are not such a big issue.

Excellent and quiet cooling. Unlocked Voltage. Factory OC'd plus 10 to 15 % More OC still available. Lifetime Warranty. Cool looking Beast of a card.
|
Very Large Card (11.6", 295mm long)
|
This is a huge (11.6") card. Make sure you have the space (will not fit into most cases).
It is a sweet beast of a card with 3Gb that plays all the latest games on ultra settings.
At Factory OC (1Ghz), In my case it Idles at 41C and I got it up to 62C peak while stress testing and benchmarking. I have the fan speed set to 40% while it is in the low 40's and got up to as high as 65% during Stress testing. Even at 65%, they are the quietest fans in my case. While Gaming (2 monitors at 1080p), it has not gone over 53C with fan running at about 55%.
Since Over Clocking Creates more heat, it is nice to know there is lots of head room. With Small Voltage increase up to 1.4, the Core can be clocked up to 1150 Mhz and Memory up to 1600 Mhz.
Make sure you register within 30 days to qualify for the Lifetime Warranty, and get your copy of Battlefield 4.
