Legendary Performance and Reliability

Quiet operation at low loads, modular cabling and 80 PLUS® Gold efficiency makes HX Series PSUs a great choice for high-performance PCs.

Quiet operation at low loads
Basic PC power supplies have fans that spin whenever your PC is on – whether you’re pushing your graphics card to the limit or just surfing the web. HX Series power supplies are smarter than that: they generate less heat, so they require less cooling, and the thermally controlled fan only spins when it’s needed.

Slay the cable kraken
The modular cable set allows you to use only the cables you need for your particular set of components. There’s no more unwieldy mythical tentacled monstrosity of unused cables to clutter up the inside of your case.
High efficiency for lower energy consumption and less heat generation

Efficiency is the measurement of how well a power supply converts the AC power from your outlet to the DC power used by your PC’s components. If your power supply isn’t efficient, it will generate more heat, which requires more cooling and more fan noise. And, it might even affect your power bill.

HX Series PSUs are among the most efficient on the market. They help keep your PC cool and quiet, and your power bill down.

Quiet, efficient, powerful
Cons Not fully modular
Cables are not sleeved
Tight cables make it difficult for some drive bays

I have this PSU powering up various systems, currently an i7 4790K and SLI GTX 770 setup. The power is efficient and consistent and the fan is silent. If it weren't for the semi-modular design or the horrible cables, this would be a perfect PSU.

Gold rating
Cons Semi-modular

Very good product
Recommended for gaming/workstation machine. Lot of power to feed GPU and CPU. Overclocker's recommandation. You won't find better in this category.

Experience: 4 Weeks

- the non-modular cables are few in count and are necessary for any system build
- excellent build quality, as expected from Corsair
- good quality sleeving, though there is room for improvement
- an abundance of extra cables
- unexpected, but the cables came in a neat little pouch
- gotta love that 'new PSU smell' ;)
Cons - none

I had faith in Corsair when they first launched their HS1A headset, though it disappointed me in the end. I did not give up, and now they're selling some of the most well built products in the industry. I am extremely pleased with this purchase ($159) and look forward to seeing new releases from Corsair in the future.

Silencieux, Beaucoup de câbles inclus. Quiet operation, Lots of modular cable
Cons SEMI-modulaire. / SEMI modular.

Very good product! / Très bon produit! 4 Câbles non modulaires: EPS12V(4/8 broches), Câble ATX(20/24 broches) et 2 PCI-E.

Experience: 2 Years

Mine has been sitting mostly in a box for a long time. I just put it into a system and all is fine. Basically what everyone else said about build quality, noise and performance....
Cons That short 8 pin PCIE power cable and no included extension. On my HAFX tower and Sabertooth, it just fits, running over the top of the videocard and looking stupid.

I just built a new system with a new but "old stock" PS. If I'd taken trouble to read reviews, I'd have ordered an extension for the 8 pin cable... My problem...

I've had a lot of good luck with all kinds of Corsair PSU's and have a lot of faith in them. Out of curiosity, I dug up the invoice for my "spare" PSU bought on sale in Jan 2011 - $169.00 on sale then. It appears that decent PSU's hold their price pretty well compared to most other components..

very quiet for the power
Cons long shipping with fedex

really good for a gtx 660ti i'd love it easy to install it is a good product I recommand it for every one who build a gaming desktop with big video card.and good looking device

Not too big or heavy. Works great. Plenty of cables included, mostly modular, mostly long enough, quality wiring/sleeves. Build quality is fantastic, it feels like a very professionally-made product. Very quiet, doesn't seem to get hot.
Cons 8-pin CPU power connector is really short, in a HAF XM with a Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H and a Zalman CNPS12X HSF I could barely make it reach all the way and using cable management/routing it behind the MB was out of the question, so that was really unpleasant. Just an extra inch would have been great, the other cables are fine.

Not entirely modular--8-pin CPU and 24-pin ATX connectors were not removable, surprisingly neither were 2 of the 6+2-pin PCI-E connectors, although as you have to use all of these anyways it didn't bother me really.

Despite the short 8-pin connector and the handful of non-modular cables this is all-around a spectacular PSU. Although I just got it, my old Corsair HX520 has lasted absolutely fine for over 5 years now and is still kicking. Corsair builds excellent, high-quality stuff; you can really feel the quality of this thing.

Modular, enough power for everything.
Cons Not 100% modular.

Good warranty and trustworty brand. I would buy again.

Experience: 2 Weeks

Many connectors
Cons The CPU 8Pin length could be longer
Modular connections look somewhat average

I preferred this over the Seasonic M12 850W, I have both. Have enough 6+2pins for two, three videocards. Good build and feel heavy, the modular connections are flat, not braided. The CPU 8pin connector length is adequate but too short if you want to run behind the case. Include and extension for the 8pin would be nice.

stable 80+ silver rating
lots of power
Cons none noticed thus far

Having purchased and used a Corsair HX620 from in the past I had no hesitation in purchasing the HX850. My HX620 has never given me any problems for that last 4 years so I was confident that the HX850 would meet all my needs for the next 4 with its power and stability.
