- Very versatile board for people who have AM2 or AM2+ CPUs and DDR2 ram, use this as a HTPC board and used both an older AM2 Athlon x2 4200+ and a Phenom II x4 940 and both worked well ... had older DDR2 ram lying around which was the main reason I went with this instead of a newer chipset
The mobo has been fairly good for my HTPC. The overclock capability is decent for a budget build. Managed to get my Athlon 640 to 3.7ghz on it. The only issue i had was the audio problem. Sometimes you will not get sound out of the HDMI. First to get sound from HDMI you must set the audio output default to HDMI. This will make the sound work, however, randomly sometimes after you restart the computer, you will no longer get audio output from HDMI anymore. To fix this, you have to unplug and replug the HDMI for it to detect it again. Although after a while, even this didnt work very often. I had to opt to switch my mobo with my old computer and build another ati 5450 for the other mobo to get HDMI output to the TV... So yeah i wasted another $60 for the 5450.

I'm impressed with this board. It was easy to install and it works very well in my HTPC/Gaming PC. Had a bit of confusion with the HDD activity LED wiring but I'm a n00b and it could've been worse. As with other Gigabyte mobos the RAM slots are close to the CPU slot and I ended up having to take my cooler off and install the RAM first. I've heard that other companies' value boards can be junk so I feel I made a good purchase.

If you're looking for a dead-simple PC, this would probably fit the bill. Personally, I'm ebaying this monstrosity and getting an ASUS, because this board's BIOS is junk junk junk.

I did need to purchase a more powerful PSU. A PSU that has the 8 pin 12V CPU plug. I know a 4 pin should have worked fine, but I couldnt get it work.

Grabbed on to build my friend's HTPC for her apartment. Had a few DDR2 modules sitting around and was pleased to find a board that could use new processors with them.
This is a great motherboard for the foundation of my HTPC. It handles HD playback flawlessly (BluRay, 1080p HD x264 & 1080i TS MPEG-2) without any issues using the HD4200 onboard graphics when paired with an AMD X2 250 using Media Portal on Windows XP. It has been stable and without any issues since I completed the build.

First 30 days limited warranty through NCIX.com. The remainder of the 3 year warranty is provided directly by the manufacturer.
Currently Gigabyte accepts end users’ requests on RMA service. Motherboards, Video cards, servers and Rackmount server boards carry three years limited warranty.
Warranty Effective On Date of Manufacture
Gigabyte determines warranty based on the manufacture date. The manufacture date can be verified by the serial number found on the product. The first four digits after "SN" determine the year and week of manufacturing date. For example:
"01)04719331729028(21) SN0213030585" represents the 13th week of 2002
RMA Request Procedures and Guidelines
All RMA request forms must be completed in order to obtain a RMA number
RMA request with missing or incorrect serial number(s) may result in a delayed process or a rejection of request
Any model discrepancy for received items may result in a delayed processing timeProducts received with no RMA number may delay processing or refusal (Gigabyte will not be responsible for items received without proper information)
No cross shipping or advanced replacements under any circumstances
Products will either be repaired or replaced at our discretion
Replacements may include new or refurbished products (Replacements will be for the exact or equivalent product)
Average turnaround time will be 2-3 business working weeks upon receipt (applies to quantities not exceeding 20 pieces)
If the information on your request varies from the actual item(s) received, RMA will be based on the actual item(s) received
RMA numbers will be valid for 30 days after issued date
Gigabyte will provide one way freight via UPS or FedEx ground free of charge
