I built two computers for my parents each with this processor. Their personal computer needed replacing (single core 1.7GHz Intel Celeron 768MB RAM. The other was for an HTPC. For what they do I believe both were overkill, but for the price it was worth it and means they won't need a new computer for years to come.

Got this CPU to go along Gigabyte GA-MA78LM-S2 motherboard. Fast and stays cool with stock heatsink. This thing is faster and at one fifth the price compared to the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ i got 3 years ago.

Paired this up with a Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H and worked right out of the box with no issues. Great for budget systems as it does have dual cores and a decent speed (2.8Ghz) but would not recommend this for gaming systems as for a little more you can get at least a quad core CPU. Heat does not seem to be an issue so the system noise level is low.

Used this with a Gigabyte GA-MA785GT-UD3H (DDR3 Version), I've since upgraded to an Athlon II X4 620. Great CPU for budget users and budget gamers, however if you have the 50$ to spare get an X4 620 or 630. Paired with a XFX Radeon HD 4770 it will play Borderlands at 1920x1200 quite well and with most details at High. Highly recommended for a budget gamer.

This is a really good cpu for budget builds! It might have a small cache but its one quick little thing with some DDR2 ram and 8800 GT frommy previous rig. Can't wait to Overclock it and see how far it will go!

I bought this CPU for a low-end and cheap new system built. It's well enough for daily tasks like browsing, emails, facebook etc... watching movies too is no problems as well as light.medium gaming. I paired this CPU with a Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H and G.Skill DDR2 Memory. Works perfectly fine and runs Windows 7 nicely. Highly recommended for budget builds.

Bought this for a low cost build, and it does the job very well. The heatsink isn't very good, the temps run warmer than I'd like. Now granted bundled heatsinks usually aren't very good but this is one of the worst ones I've seen, but it gets the job done. If you are doing ANY overclocking I'd switch it out though. Other than that it works great, happy with how it performs.

This is great value so it gets 5 out of 5 from me. It does everything my mom needs it for and well at that. For the great price its a perfect buy for someone who just needs to do basic tasks. The Athlon II is the perfect replacement for he Athlon 64 series as it still maintains that excellent entry level value.
