Maximus III Gene has an excellent cost/benefit ratio if you are looking for a socket 1156 micro-ATX motherboard with no on-board video and lots of overcloking options.
The ASUS Maximus III Gene is a showstopper for a micro-ATX motherboard. For lack of a better description, it's essentially a Maximus III Formula that's removed a couple expansions slots to fit the smaller form factor.

We don't like the Maximum III Gene at all, no Sir. We adore it and as such is worth the money you need to put down on the table. if you are in the market for an mATX motherboard, look no further.

i would say i prefer it to it's atx equivalent, because of the lack of space when using cf or sli, but it gave some of the best OC possibility and it permit a lot of addon onboard. in two word, great buy

first of all it's size is small so whoever wants a good gaming board but wanna save some space, this is the board for you. The board size is mATX so most case will be ok with this board. I dont use CF or SLI but since this can support up to 2 G-Card this would be good enough for regular gamers.

I purchased this board for a midrange gaming pc and I got exactly what I expected with this mainboard Asus quality. This board has most of the functions that its big brother has the maximus III formula and looks great in an appropriate chassis. I would definatly recomend this board if you dont want to spend big bucks on an extreme version this fits the bill perfecttly.
