- excellent air flow and cooling
- not very loud
- the USB3.0 cable at the back is slightly annoying
I purchased this case and it's been great. I would definitely recommend it to someone, and I will probably stick with Thermaltake when I buy my next case.

This is a well designed case with some great design ideas, a few missteps (the tool-free expansion bracket mechanism sucks; the other tool-free clips are OK). All in all more hits than misses.

-The sideways facing hard drive trays are fantastic. Yes, the tool-free locking mechanisms are easy to break and the drives are a tiny bit wobbly with them installed. Still, they work well enough and save a LOT of time, especially if you have multiple hard drives in there! You aren't forced to use the tool free HDD and 5 1/4" locks either - you can still use screws if you want. I have 3x SATA drives and an SSD in my case using the tool-free brackets and there's no drive rattle or vibration whatsoever.

-This case has received flak for its poor cable management. True, there's no clearance behind the back panel to hide cables on like on an antec P182 or P183, but the cable management in this case isn't that bad for 2 reasons:

1. you can stash many cables in the dual floppy drive section and in the 5 1/4" bays unless you're using all 3 (available) bays.
2. The hard drive trays are designed so that the connectors face the back of the case, so you can tuck some cables behind there to make it less messy in the main case area.

Another good feature of this case -- the whole bottom back of the case, below the motherboard tray, is a giant cut-out rectangle. This isn't obvious in the pictures because all of the pictures with the side panel off for some reason still have the back panel on. The nice open space with the back door off makes cable management much easier when you're installing the hard drives. This is a good case to put 5 hard drives into if you want!
-The tool-free hard drive and 5 1/4" bay locking mechanisms are made of plastic & metal and break easily - be careful with them!
-The tool-free expansion bracket locks are cheap and if you have a dual-slot video card you'll need to remove it. Fortunately, once you take out the 3 screws holding the cheap plastic tool-free clips, it has screw holes like any normal case. Do yourself a favour and buy some thumbscrews. It's a shame TT didn't include any (other than the 4 for the panel doors).
-The rear 120mm fan is noisy - not whiny but a very loud "whoosh" sound - and definitely should be replaced for a quieter experience.

-The top (4th) 5 1/4" drive bay really is blocked by all of the cables running from the top of the case. Pretend this case only has 3 5 1/4" bays when buying.

-The pictures are deceiving regarding cables - it looks like they're all hidden. That's a mirage - the case already comes with clutter - the blue USB 3.0 cable runs along the top of the case and out the back, and there's a jumble of I/o cables and 2x SATA cables dropping down from the top 5 1/4" bay area. Buy cable ties before you set up this computer!!
This is a solid, well-built computer case that I highly recommend.

This is a great case for people who need to hot swap SATA drives a lot, or for people who want to install 3-5 hard drives (5-7 including the top BlacX bays) comfortably into a case. This is not a good case for people with 3+ 5 1/4" drives.

The selling feature of this case for me was the 2x SATA drive bays on the top of the case. I swap hard drives a lot, so having dual SATA bays built into the case was an absolute huge selling feature for me.

I initially moved from my Antec P182 to an Antec 200 because I was in a small apartment, and the P182 was very tall and quite heavy.

I went from the Antec 200 case to this one. The Antec was lighter (and a bit quieter with the stock fans), but this Thermaltake case is more functional with the dual docking bay and the nice 200mm case fan on top (as well as the front USB3 port, which I'm currently using like a regular SATA ).

I also missed the modular hard drive bays of the Antec P182; the HDD arrangement in this case is much better than the Antec 200.

Looks good and everything works
I have had this case for about a week. It looks great and is functional. The drive bays on the top work great. My only complaint is the case fans needed to be replaced as they are to loud for me. There are not many accesories and no case speaker. overall its a nice looking case and would recomend this case but if you like quiet better invest in some decent case fans. And a thanks to Chris in shipping with helping with this order

Comment: "there are cases out there with much better wire management for around the same price. Otherwise, it's not a bad buy for those who like the Thermaltake style, like tool less features, want a window, and have a use for the built-in, dual-bay docking station."

Comment: I'll admit I'm a junky for full tower cases as I love all the room they have to offer. With that being said I was quite pleased overall with the mid tower V9 Black Edition. I never felt cramped or had to contort my hands while assembling the PC. The twin 230mm fans do a great job of keeping

Comment: Thermaltake V9 BlacX is a very good chassis that's packed with great features, all for an attactive price. Featuring, dual bay docking station, USB3.0 support and excellent thermal performance, it makes it extremely appealing to all types of users, especially gamers and modders.
