Below are reviews found on other web sites for this product submitted by customers.
Less expensive than the Logitech Revue with Google TV and pricier than Apple TV, the Boxee Box by D-Link focuses on rounding up Web content on your HDTV, but suffers from a lack of partner content at launch.

This box is certainly an amazing central media hub for home use. It plays internet videos in a snap and pulls my home video files from the NAS drive in no time. It solved all my online and network multimedia needs in one place. The keyboard on the remote makes typing letters and numbers in the search box very easy. All this box is missing is recording capabilities.

Agree with reviewer below. The true potential of this device is to stream local and internet content in a user friendly interface. With each passing month the device had more and more bugs and less functionality. The boxee support service does not exist any more and the device is dying a slow death as technology around it advances. Soon it will be a very expensive way to play some (not all) local media only. I would give it one star, but couldn't since I bought it elsewhere and NCIX demands and order no. for 1/2 star reviews.

Boxee has all but abandoned the Boxee Box. There are numerous major bugs that are not being fixed and the Boxee team is silent on most if not all of them. There is no projected fix date for most of these bugs and they pretty much cripple the device.
6 months ago I would of gave this 4/5 stars. Today it gets 1.

As someone who has relied on streaming local content to their Television for years starting with xbox1 xbmc, tversity over xbox 360 and directly connecting my pc to my HDTV I have to say that the Boxee Box has exceeded my expectations in regards of performance and compatibility... Setting it up was a breeze... it let me easily create a boxee account, received the latest system update and adding local media sources was a snap... it has alot of little options that just make sense. Its easy to tell this came from XBMC... I was a little worried that the web content would be mostly from the U.S. but it pulled down feeds from CTV, Global, Showcase etc.. and they all work ok.. but the main reason for me to purchase the device was to stream my content upstairs to my living room TV and to get access to Netflix... both work great... my Linksys E1000 router is downstairs and HD content up to 1080P streams upstairs with ZERO glitching.... im a very happy camper.... If you're worried about this device not being powerful enough to stream your content you should be safe... and if you dont want to have to mess with the more complex solutions but still want quality and reliability I strongly suggest picking this bad boy up.... Hey.. its a freaky cube that lights up green with a nifty remote that gives you access to a tremendous amount of free content that you can show off to your mates... what more do you want? :)

I got this as a part of my HD recording setup. I keep videos stored on my NAS (DNS-325), from which boxee reads and plays on the tv over wifi with no problem whatsoever. It discovers and reads network shares easily.
The boxee box is the best media player on the market right now. It has the best design, hardware specs, remote, and GUI! Networking to your external content or the web is very easy with this unit, but the unit can still be difficult for those who don't read instructions or have much tech experience.
I bought this during the holiday sale with free ground shipping. I was looking at first for a device to stream my media from my PC to my TV, but after reading reviews I decided on this for the added benefit (Boxee software and Netflix/other streaming apps).
I received the Boxee Box for my birthday this year and have loved it ever since. I specifically asked for the Boxee because I didn't want to settle for the plain text list style interface. I knew that Boxee had a customized X-Box Media Centre (XBMC) interface and that was exactly what I wanted. The Boxee software is probably the biggest reason to purchase the device. It gives you a Home Theatre PC (HTPC) experience without the need to put a PC together. You simpily put all your own content in a folder on one of your computers and share the folder with the Boxee Box and it will scan and recognize the content. The recognized content is then compared against the Internet Movie Database (IMDB.com) site and descriptions, trailers, and cover art is automatically applied. This feature, along with the rest of the impressive GUI is a solid plus for the Boxee Box over other $100 devices.
