Features    [ Edit | History ]

The Hyper 212 EVO cooling systems are designed and optimized to provide the best user experience and cooling potential for a new generation of processors. The Hyper 212 EVO now features four Cooler Master patented Continuous Direct Contact (CDC) heat pipes that are tightly packed into a flat array on the CPU Cooler base. This acts as a virtual vapor chamber that dissipates a large amount of heat. The aluminum fin structure has been optimized to provide the perfect performance balance between high and low speed fan operations.

It was received in good condition and came with everything i needed. Performance is yet to be tested but i expect good things.
This cooler was the hardest thing to install in my build, even my friend was there to help build it and it took about an hour.
In all, this is a very good cooler, but installation is a tricky thing. I had a AMD cpu(btw)

Awesome cooling
Good price
Supports 2 fans on heat sink
Too big for some cases
Big difference then stock cooling, With arctic silver 5 and this I was sitting at 28C and with gaming it didn't go much higher. Worth every penny. Kind of big though. My Antec case had a side fan and I had to remove it to make sure the case would close properly.

Keeps things cooler x idle than with stock heatsink/fan.
Fits my Asus P5N-D (lga775) motherboard
Case fitment might be too much (luckily I checked before I ordered)
I purchased the CM Hyper 212 Evo after doing a bunch of research on the Internet. I knew that the cooler was larger and in charge, as in it's really tall. But having measured my case (Antec 900) and seeing that I'd have a few mm's to spare, I went ahead and dropped the $30 on the cooler.

Install was a bit confusing, at first. And this wasn't my first rodeo. But once I looked over the instructions a few more times and took my time installing it, it works like a charm!

Before the cooler, my Intel Core2Quad idled at 46c (115f). Now it idles at 37c (98.6f)! A vast improvement. The cooler comes with one fan, and the hardware to mount a second fan to the cooler. Since the cooler was already close to the back of my case, I went ahead and moved the second 120mm fan onto the cooler in a push/pull configuration. The fan that plugs into the 4-pin header on my mobo (the one that comes with the cooler) is speed-controlled by my mobo. The second fan I leave on it's highest setting as it really doesn't make that much noise.

Overall, I'd give this a 5-star rating as the con I listed above really wasn't an issue since I pre-checked before the order.

Even though my computer is old, this cooler will allow me to keep using it for other purposes once I can afford to build a new system. This system will have enough horsepower to act as a HD-DVR for recording games/streaming from the new computer (I hope) :)

My specs:

Intel Core2Quad 2.66GHz
Geforce GTX 750 Ti 2GB
Dual-Boot Win7/Ubuntu 15.04
Antec 900 Case
900W Corsair PSU

Does the job for a low price
It is heavy and big and can make trouble on yout mother board.
Keep in mind, you use this at your own risk on your mother board.
It is so heavy it can create  problemes with your motherboard.
In my case, it disturbed my motherboard to a point the 4th pin of the fan was not fonctionning right any more at any moment the heat sink was installed on it. When it was uninstalled, any 4pins PMW fans were working fine. It may seems a minor problem, but you can't really tell if it was the only thing it did at that moment in the motherboard and what effect it does on the long run. Once I removed the weight from my motherboard, it was still running fantastic. I ran it on a Asus Z97-A.

Overall, I prefer paying double the price for a smaller noctua heatsink that wont constrain the motherboard. I would even prefer to keep the original heatsink than having this monster on my motherboard.

Since it does work, I won't put only 1 star, but since it breaks your CPU warranty and may makes trouble to your motherboard due to a massive weight, it is 2 star. It could be all right for an overclocker that is willing to risk his pieces, but I suspect an overclocker would want a better and more effective piece than this that can lower the temperatures a lot more than this.

Very well built. Keeps CPU very cool
Look for videos on YouTube. Once you see the videos, installation is very simple. Have it on my G3258. On stock cooler it was around 45c and now it is around 35c.

-Silent (even at intensive load).
-Keeps the CPU very cool.
-Suitable for most Mid-Tower cases.
-Installation requires some times and patience, but nothing too scary.
-A bit loose, but still firmly attached (you can rotate it once installed).
I use it with my AMD FX-8370. The CPU stays around 45c while gaming. It's pretty silent and WAY better than the stock AMD cooler.

Installing it was a chore, but if you're patient it's not that bad as others say (it took me 25min).

Overall it's a very good cooler for the price and probably the best bang for your bucks!

Note: It might be too large for some mid-tower cases. It left me 3-5mm room between the cooler and the side panel in my Antec One mid-case. So, be sure to take the measurements.

Great cooling for that price
Not the easiest to install on AMD platform. The screw and nut system isn't the best in my opinion.
Bought it for my cousin to replace the stock AMD heat sink since his CPU started to overheat. Went from 75-80 degrees to around 40 degrees. Great improvement.

-Cheap, very good bang for your buck
-Moves a lot of air
-Installation was a pain
It's efficient, great and moves a lot of air. It's pretty inexpensive too! You should probably add another fan for better cooling. I overclocked my A10-7850K to 4.2 GHz and this kept it at around 45 degrees. Installation was a bit difficult, but certainly doable. I used this for an mATX build and luckily, it fit.

Very good cooling for the price
Awkward to install
Picked this up on Boxing Day for <$30 in combination with an FX-8310 OEM for $110. Installed with with Arctic Silver 3. Base clock OC'ed to 4.0GHz with 4.8GHz turbo and CPU has plenty of "thermal margin" leftover under 100% load to 8 or 4 cores according to AMD Overdrive.

The mounting bracket is kind of awkward as it has only one point of contact in the middle of the heatsink, but you only have do mount it once.

No complaints about the size, it fits in a mid-tower and dimensions are clearly laid out in the specifications.

Very quiet
Decent cooling
none so far
Very nice cooler. Quiet and produces decent result. CPU temperature around 45 degrees idled (i5 4690). Much bigger than I thought, but doesn't really impact other component installation.
