Pros
Very quick, enough said
Cons

Summary
I bought this just to get a foot in the door in the LGA 2011 platform but I'm not disappointed at the performance. I moved from an AMD system for the first time in 10 years due to simple performance and it paid off. A move to 6 core or Ivy Bridge-E if it's still in Intel's plans down the road is coming.

Pros
-Fast
-Great for Gaming / Multimedia task
-perform better for crossfire/Sli than LGA1155 for a better price over a 3770k cpu

-Semi-unlocked multiplier (x43) for a free little boost
Cons
None...
Summary
got this cpu with a good evga x79 brand new motherboard for alot less than a EOL LGA1155 i7 3770k + mobo.

LGA2011 is better in performance for crossfire/Sli setup.

Pros
Price/Performance ratio is just great & runs cool when OC'd
Cons
Doesnt make me breakfast
Summary
I bought this with a plan to upgrade the processor when Ivy Bridge E comes out but now its gonna have to really be a big jump for me to do that...This is a really nice processor - I matched this with a Rampage IV extreme and 4 x 4GB Corsair dominator platinum 1866 and havent looked back.
Overclocking to 4.7+ Ghz was possible but required a hefty voltage increase so I backed off to a very nice 4.5 Ghz and can run stable at 1.325 v. Runs cool - in the 40's even under massive BF3 sessions and barely cracks the 60's with intel burn test. Note that I'm running an H100 for cooling which help keep things nice and chilly!
I fully recommend you consider the 2011 socket and this processor for a new build.

Pros
Great price performance and allows affordable access to X79 platform. Purchased friday and arrived at my door monday Love you NCIX
Cons
Quicker chips available on 1155 if willing to sacrifice features
Summary
Upgraded to use current 1156 i5-750 in HTPC build. Was not expecting huge difference in performance but was pleasantly surprised. Gaming smoother and simply crushes encoding times.

Pros
Runs Cool.
Cons
None.
Summary
This is a great processor, runs cool with my H100, turbo boost pushes it to 3.8GHZ with ease. I went with Socket 2011, with the hope that Intel releases future Extreme based processors for socket 2011.

Pros
Cheapest among the LGA2011 socket CPU
Cons
No IGP
No heatsink
Summary
Other seem to have a high success rate overclocking this CPU. Most don't mention what motherboard they are using. Left setting to default and run at stock speed. Don't do any benching but seem somewhat faster then the previous i7-9xx generation. Still expensive, nobody buy Intel until they have an overstock sale.

Comment: I see three reasons why you'd want the Core i7 3820: 1. You need PCIe 3.0 today and/or you need more PCIe lanes than a Core i7 2600K can provide, 2. You need tons of memory bandwidth for a particular application, 3. You want a 2600K but you need a platform that can support more memory &
