Lived with crappy computers for a long time. Doom3 finally came out and I eventually had the money to live the experience. It might not have survived into Fear and Oblivion's era so gracefully, but those scary days with Doom3 and Halflife 2 made the purchase well worth it (almost bought the 9800pro, glad I didn't). Still a good card if you get it for $100

They are hot, but if you arent sure, buy an aftermarket cooler. 6600gt performs well for a midrange card. Has been going strong on medium-high detail levels on all the new games. 1280x1024 res, with atlease 2AA and 16AF.

This is a decent mid-range card that is factory-overclocked right out of the box. I play mainly BF2 and have no problems running at medium settings at 1600x1200 resolution. I bought it when it was on sale for $199 plus another rebate of $40. I got my rebate and am very happy with this purchase.

I bought this card to replace a 4xAGP GeForce4 Ti card in an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe mobo with an o/c'd Athlon XP-M 2400+ CPU. Since I was jumping a few generations of video cards I'd hoped to get more of a boost out of it. I haven't noticed any improvement in somewhat recent games like GTA Vice City. I suppose it supports some new graphic effects for Quake 4 and some up and coming games, but I quickly discovered that jerky game play was still something to endure when there was alot going on at once on the screen. Onm the plus side, it's been very stable and not slow enough to stop me from playing anything including some recent game demos.
I don't usually take the time to post reviews about any of the products I buy, but this card worked so well for me that I had to. I run a pure (Debian) linux system and I was extremely impressed with NVidia's linux support. I've been brand loyal to ATI since the TNT2 series of cards, but, although it's slowly improving, ATI's linux support is lacking.
i just got this card today. shipping and order processing was very fast since i ordered yesterday and got it today with express shipping. it was shrinkwrapped and included a dvi to vga adapter for those like me who have a regular crt monitor and also an hdtv dongle with the manual and cd. there was a mail-in rebate of 40$ (great!) when i bought it. i bought this to replace my ati radeon 9800 pro and i suspected by reading other reviews that this card would not give me a big improvement. i must admit that its true. it only gives me a slight speed improvement compared to the 9800 pro. i bought this considering it could be the last agp card i will buy since theres pci express cards which i will probably get when i change my computer for a new one and to get the latest technology like the ddr3 memory and improvements like shader 3 support with the 6600 gt. i cant tell about durability since i got this today but it does work fine and fan is pretty quiet. it was easy to install with the included cd and fits perfectly in my agp 2.0 slot. im overall satisfied and would recommend this card if you plan on buying a 6600 gt since this bfg 6600 gt oc card comes already overclocked and must be the fastest in this category and it comes with a lifetime warranty.
I should have purchased a 6800xt, for the same price, performance is a tad bit better but you can completly mod it with extra 4 pipelines and overclock it more. Im kinda happy with this card but it wont last long in games, not with titles such as oblivian coming out.
