Cons Not as fast at ripping as my lighton DVD burner
Summary Excellent DVD burner. Considered to be the most compatible burner out there. This drive can burn most media in a way that it is compatible with most DVD burners (my old lite-on burner had alot of compatibility issues when burning different types of DVDs). If you want the most compatible burner out there then I hightly recommend this drive.
Summary I've had this DVD-RW for well over a year now, done at least 150 writes/re-writes and everything is good. I picked it up because it was "recommended' by half the internet in google search engines. It also has a well competitive price.
Pros Burns many different types of disks, reliable, no coasters burnt so far, cheap.
Cons No lightscribe, can't burn DVD-RAM, colour is darker than my dell drive, OEM so no screws.
Summary Great burner, fairly easy to install. First ever DVD burner for me, and first order from NCIX. Great price, altough it got even lower after I bought it. Wish it came with screws, but still a good buy. Get the retail version now.
Pros black quick fairly quiet burnt everything fine so far, many dvds has nice black shiny surface
Cons green light is always on, worries me if its always reading the disc even if im not accessing it.
Summary been a great burner so far, has burnt many no name dvds nice and fast, not one bad burm yet. it also has a nice shiny finish which makes it look real nice in black cases. jus be sure to update the firmware which you can get from the benq site.
Summary This is my favourite of my 6 DVD burners. It beats the LG 4160 in burn quality, and can copy things that my other BenQ DW1620s can't read. The burn quality is amazing at 8 or 12x, I haven't used it at 16x yet. Ripping is accomplished at max possible speed, at 8x or higher if the DVD is new and of good quality; many DVDs aren't very good to begin with, and therefore can rip at 4 or 6x instead. There appears not to be a riplock from the factory. Using Taiyo Yuden media (YUDEN000 T02, TYG02) I consistently get CD-DVD Speed quality scores of 98 and 99. The burner is nearly perfect, though I've only burned about 300 DVDs on it so far. I confidently & HIGHLY recommend this drive.
Pros Price Burns well on many types of media Few errors
Cons A little loud
Summary Simply put, this is just a rebadged Plextor at half the price, which makes it damn good value. One of the best, if not the best, dvd writers avalible on the market today. The only problem I have with this is that it's kinda loud, although quieter than some others I've had in the past.
Pros Quiet Burns almost every type of media Very decently priced
Summary Overall this DVD writer is top-notch. I have burned all kinds of media with this thing, including DVD-Rs from Fujifilm, Maxell, and Sony; DVD-RWs from Fujifilm; and CD-R/RWs from Sony, Memorex and HP. The record times are quick enough for me, and the drive is very quiet, far quieter than my LG DVD-ROM. I honestly can't think of any downsides to this DVD-RW. I would highly recommend it.
Based on all the DVD writers I've had the pleasure of looking at,
I can honestly say that those drives from BenQ are indeed the most impressive in terms of overall performance. No other drive has impressed me more, and this is why I was eagerly awaiting their next release.
