I got this HDD as an external for some extra room, works great so far and its pretty fast.
my only problem is that its a bit loud and can get pretty hot when its been running for a while. but then that might be the problem with my external case instead.

Since the first time I have tried a Seagate drive, I've always stayed with this brand because it was sooo quiet!
This time I looked again for a Seagate drive because I HATE to hear a hard drive seeking for data, it drives me crazy. I don't know what happened with this series but it's one of the most noisy drive i've ever had. The drive itself is quiet, but when seeking for data, you don't have to look at the HD led on the case, you KNOW it's actually doing something on the HD.

This is one of the loudest Seagate HDD's I've owned. I also own a 160GB 7200.10 16MB drive, and it's just as loud. The 32MB cache drives seem to be quieter (I own two as well). HDD speed isn't my main priority, so it's fast enough for me. My only complaint is the noise.

No problems so far. I got it for a very decent price - 50 bucks - for such a huge hard drive. Its quiet and easy to install. Well recommended!

This is a quite and fast drive! The warranty is excellent, and it's quite cheap--I got mine for $50. I haven't had any issues yet, so it seems to work well.

Bought this when on sale suring Christmas and it was a steal. The good thing is that it's cheap and quite fast for a 500GB drive using perpendicular technology. It all goes downhill from there though. This drive is very loud, vibrates significantly (despite rubber dampers in the HDD cage) and clicks very often on read/seek.
