I replaced the annoying MCP fan on my 680iLT motherboard with the HR-05-SLI. It's working great, my MCP temp is around 55 degrees C under load without a fan and that's with my MCP voltage set to 1.6V in the bios for overclocking purposes.

I bought this to replace the 5k rpm screamer on my DFI NF4 board. From an active cooling solution to a passive one, the temperatures dropped from 50 -> 38~ - which is stellar performance considering my video chokes the air supply to this cooler. Load never exceeds 40 and the 'SLI' designation means it is offset by one PCI slot on my NF4 - enough room for a two slot video card.

On my Asus Maximus Formula SE MB, the Northbridge was too hot (idle 50C with 1.38v, Crysis load 61C!). I am OCing the CPU and RAM so the there is additional stress/heat on the NB. I replaced the stock syncs with HR-05 SLI and the Enzotech SLF-1 for the SB. This sync cleared the Thermalright Ultra120 on my CPU because of its right angle design. NB now runs 38C idle and 47C load even with increased voltage to 1.40 because my E6750 is running 3.72Ghz and the RAM is at 1161Mhz. These temps are using the HR05 passively - I will be installing a Sunon KDE1207PTV3 70mm fan for better cooling.

Great heatsink, use it on my MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum (non-SLi), doesn't block any pci slots, keeps the chipset below 40 degrees celsius passively. With the stock one, it was about 45-55 degrees.

A nice looking cooler, simple to install and will fit several different chipsets, because of the way it rises it can be moved around for best position. You can also put a fan on it if nessasary but I haven't needed to.

I just benchmarked the chipset temperature with Smart Guardian at 32 celsius, with the addition of a 80mm fan. My NF4 chipset used to run around 48 degrees average. Great Product, but, as others have said, the mounting is weak. This review was modfied by poster s 11-06-07 07:24 PM

Other than taking you computer apart to get tot the underside of the mobo, the installation is pretty damned easy - remember the slap on some AC5, kids!
All I can say to you is do not rush into this install. Take your time and plan how your going to put this in without messing things up and causing space problems.
My first 3rd party northbridge cooler. Previously used the stock cooler than came with the ASUS A8N-E. Once replaced, I noticed a big drop in noise and temperature. Problems are the instructions needed better clarification and the mounting is a little flimsy. It has not fallen on me but it moves if you touch it and I wouldn't be surprise if it shifts if you move the computer. I bought it because I was worried the normal Thermalright HR-05 non-SLI wouldn't fit but I needn't have worried. Enough space with a Nvidia Geforce 6600 video card with 2GB ram installed. Good but probably would have been better off saving some money and just getting the normal Thermalright HR-05.

Overall this thing does what it's supposed to; sucker keeps my northbridge cool. However, I felt the design of this product could have been better in a few places. It took a lot longer than it should have to install this. I stupidly put it in bent outwards thinking that because it said "SLI compatible" that it would give room for my video card. Boy, was I wrong! Had to spin it around and block my other two PCI-E slots, just so I could free up my other PCI-E slot.
