A good performance processor for a budget minded build. I have been a fan of AMD chips for their stability and decent temps as well. It usually is around 50-60 under load with the stock sink.

Faster than my 4200+, quiet fan, affordable
heavy power draw (125w)
Overall very happy with product, very nice upgrade over my 4200+.

CPU fan is quiet, well constructed heatsink w/ heatpipes to keep this thing cool

Only wish is that it was a 95w processor.

Experience: 1 Years
Everything Great for games and normal work projects
I heard it runs a little hot.
Ive owned this CPU For a very long time. I read some reviews were it was said to be a good internet surfing chip or Office chip. I disagree. Ive ran every game know to man (well almost) and i don't even see this thing hiccup. yes it is under liquid cooling and has lots of ram and 2 descent video cards backing it. but it has run everything from Crysis- wow - cod4-CC:S and Far Cry 2 and it seems like it eats em up and chews em out.. this is by far in my opinion the best bang for its buck. Highly recommend getting it. Also it still runs like it is just out of the box and its 1+ years old.

cheap for its high performance compare to intel
isnt as powerful as intel
AMD is aiming for a more cheaper cpu, from my point, i think that intel is way more powerful, but i rather not pay that much becuase technology is growing so fast, and AMD is working perfectly fine and still good.

Fast, Cheap, Nice Heatsink, Runs Cool
Not free
Bought this from an x2 4200+ and noticed an incredible difference in hl2 based games which was what i was looking for. The performance however in windows is not very noticable unless you are doing some heavy multi tasking which is when i started to notice how much better this thing is than my old processor. Runs at about 35-40c at idle which was also alot cooler than my x2 4200. Dont think twice about upgrading if you have an older am2 chip.

price, quality
for the price and the quality of this cpu its a great deal. it runs great and seems to not run that hot like some reviews say, however i didnt use the amd heatsink that came with it. also, the heatsink that comes with amd in the 6000+ is quite nice, including pipelines :)

Upgraded from a 5200. Honestly can't tell much difference in actual gameplay/performance. But its nice to know I have that horsepower under the hood. If you're doing gaming, this hits the price/performance mark perfectly. (Going up to 6400 is no big deal) Easily beats quadcore processors that cost over twice as much. Maybe by next year that'll change, but by next year you'll be able to buy a quad core for the same price as this one. Only wish I could use the full speed of my pc2-8500 memory. Hate how its downclocked to 6400 because of the processor.

Very fast. Able to cope with my extreme multi-tasking.
125W power consumption. Idles hot.
Just upgraded from a X2 3800+ EE. Substantial improvement in speed; encoding and unrar/zipping times are much shorter now.

Very fast, and runs quite to!
thank goodness nothing yet
Upgraded from my AMD 4000, FSX runs a lot better now, everything else on my computer runs a lot smoother.. for the price you cant beat it. It also runs a lot quiter now.

Price, heat sink, easy installation, power
Just upgraded from it's 3800+ little brother and again I'm blown away by these dual core Athlon CPU's. The heat sink is a fairly big step up from the last one complete with copper heat pipes. Easy trouble-free installation and at a great reduced cost.

Comment: X-bit Labs didn't think this was so great. The OC potential isn't that great for this chip.

Comment: Quote: "AMD is now fairly competitive with Intel after its recent price cuts, but this last addition to the K8 family doesn’t send the ageing architecture out with a bang. That’s not to say it’s a particularly bad processor, it’s just not as good as what the competition has on offer. The Athlon 64 X
