What’s clear from our experiences is that the Core 2 Quad Q6600 seems to be that new “bang for buck” processor that, with a little bit of overclocking, is going to net you performance that is going to at least match the Core 2 Extreme QX6850, if not surpass it by some margin.

I bought this processor April 08 for a new build to replace my old socket 939 system. Moving from my X2 4400 to this has been a night and day difference even with the Q6600 at stock speeds. At first I second guessed myself about not getting a faster dual core but that was before I OC'd this processor to 3.2GHz.

Purchased for $250 on Boxing Day 2007! I OC'd this to around 3GHz, might try again with my new heatsink idling at 29C. I'm waiting for an evolutionary step from Core 2 architecture to Sandy Bridge, due in 2010.

I used this with both the P43 and P45 Chipset from gigabyte. The P43 went to 400 FSB and P45 went to 500 without hitch. This is a great processor. it will surpass processor 200$ more expensive!

I bought this processor a little over a year ago now. This thing is awesome. I have had it overclocked at 3.2ghz pretty much since i purchased it. At the time it was the best bang for the buck processor, no regrets :)

This is a great processor, especially for the price. I've overclocked it to 3.0 with ease and have had no issues. Using a fairly basic and cheap heat sync and haven't had any temp. issues. Stays cool and runs flawlessly. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a good bang for your buck.

Generally speaking this is a good cpu, but there are better ones out there that are cheaper or a few dollars more expensive. Q8200 would be the most recommended CPU if your looking for cheaper but reliable Quad Core.
