Pros

Needed for a windows base computer when you don't have xp or windows 7
Cons
hungry on ressources
compatibility issues
Summary
Microsoft came with vista telling it would quickly replace windows xp. It never did. The exploitation system was, and is still, too heavy on ressources for that time.

Pros

I won't lie, it has none.
Cons
Unstable, slow, unsafe, closed, unreliable, annoying, expensive.
Summary
Don't waste your money buying this OS when you can have much more FOR FREE installing Linux (Ubuntu, Fedora, etc..).
I'm giving it 3 stars because you can't give it 1 star without NCIX's permission... another limitation to our freedom!

Pros

Cool interface
Cons
Very slow
Resurce consuming
Summary
I think this is one of Mircosoft failures. The system is resource consuming and slows a lot the system. I had to shut down all the tasks and processes to make it decent. The securty feature is hell. Asks for all small changes (drives wife crazy) to agree them.
I upgraded to Win 7 and the difference is huge. 10 Times better

Pros

good security
easy to use
Cons
uses a bit too much RAM
Summary
I bought Vista back in March when I built my i7 system. Has been a great, solid operating system. Really haven't had any problems with it at all. I'll be upgrading one rig to Windows7, but will be keeping Vista to run on my new rig.

Pros

It works fine.
Cons
Windows update  gave me a dud for a driver when it came to my Gigabyte onboard network card.
Summary
Would've liked to get the Windows 7 upgrade with this one but it's nice to have all 4GB of RAM usable. Windows update  did end up giving me a bad driver for my network card though.

Cons
It's windows vista so it has a few minor problems!
Summary
I'm satisfied with it!It's good, fast and it was perfect for my new i7 build! I would definitely recommend it for system builders!

Pros

stable
smooth
secure
looks good
Cons
A few of my old games don't work.... Waaa
Summary
I have been using Vista 64 bit since last May. I just bought another copy for a second computer I just built. I have been really impressed with the stability.

Vista itself has given me no problems, it looks good and the interface is easy and I find very intuitive to use. The security is great, and I have no problems with pop ups warning me. Its an extra click people! I have yet to get a blue screen or have a program crash on me.

My only real gripe, and its a tiny one, a few of my older games are not supported. Damn you Microsoft.... oh wait. Its not up to microsoft to make the games work. That should be the makers of the games. Hmmmm. Updates and driver support are not the fault of Microsoft so I guess its a gripe about the support the programming community is giving Vista.

Pros

Looks nice
Good upgrade from XP
Cons
Stupid UAC
Summary
So far, I'm loving Windows Vista. I don't get why everyone hates it. I upgraded from XP and wow! Vista is much more enjoyable to use. Be sure to disable that stupid UAC though.

Pros

64 bit = finally access more than 4GB RAM. Much fewer compatibility issues than expected. Stable and effective so far. Doubt I'm missing any of the features of the more expensive versions.
Cons
Vista is a bit of an acquired taste, plus uses more resources than XP (thankfully can throw lots of RAM at 64-bit).
Summary
Hadn't had much experience with Vista up until I purchased this for my new i7 rig. Wanted to get a 64-bit OS and figured XP is on its way out so may as well give Vista a try, especially now that a lot of the original kinks have been worked out. Was surprised at how few software issues I had going to 64-bit/Vista (Quickbooks was the only one, and it's notorious). Everything else installed and is working as it's supposed to. Ability to access extra RAM is a godsend for Photoshop.

Takes some getting used to the interface vs. XP - I'm indifferent to the Aero look. Had to do some customizing to get rid of annoying defaults (user access control mainly). Otherwise, Vista has been fine in my experience - much better than the bad rap it's gotten.
