Western Digital definitely has a relative speed demon on its hands with the WD5000KS. While it can't keep up with the company's Raptor, it can definitely win most battles against competing high-capacity hard drives.

Great little hard drive for everyday use. Western Digital is always been a leading hard drive manufacturer which I have never had a problem with. Their drives are well build. The price of under $40 is well worth this drive.

Decent speeds affordable storage. Price is close to smaller drives but do offer more storage . A bit slow for a system drive with window 7. Good overall performances.

i love western digital hd's, but this kinda disapointed me, everything about it is great, fast, quiet, seems to be very cool, not much heat came off it, but as i use my pc more and more, there was this hummm, not very audible, but can almost feel it, the drive gave off lots of vibrations, the disc spinning must have cause the vibrations, either way i took it back out and used my old samsung 250gb drive, and just used this 500gb as external drive storage

i use this harddisk on a budget build. it's a good harddisk for the price. you can't make a mistake when you buy a western caviar hd. i didn't buy it on ncix at this time but it's clearly less expensive here now..! next time i will buy it here! i recommend this product to everyones who is on a low budget build!!

Product Warranty
First 30 days limited warranty through NCIX.com. The remainder of the two year warranty is provided directly by the manufacturer.
Warranty length may vary per specific model. Western Digital Raptor and Caviar RE series enterprise drives are covered by a 5 year warranty. Caviar and Caviar Blue & Green desktop drives are covered by a 2 year warranty for OEM drives, and a 1 year warranty for Retail.
Warranty coverage for drives is covered by NCIX for the first thirty (30) days with the remainder of the warranty covered by Western Digital.
