Western Digital definitely has a relative speed demon on its hands with the WD5000KS. While it can't keep up with the company's Raptor, it can definitely win most battles against competing high-capacity hard drives.

The 3 years warrany proves this product is reliable. It is in fact fast, reliable, automatically detected by any recent BIOS, RAID friendly.. I'd definitely recommend this product to anyone building a budget computer. If you're building a more serious computer, get more than 500 GB, but still, stick with the WD brand.

A no-frills drive that does the job admirably. Is certainly not the loudest component in the PC, even while seeking. Stays decently cool. I couldn't get SmartFan to detect its S.M.A.R.T. settings, even though the BIOS setting for that is enabled. might need to switch to another SATA channel. All-in-all, does the job nicely. The in-store sale price couldn't be beat either!

Good little drive for 500 GB. It's very quiet. I put it in a Accom External enclosure and it sits on my desk, I cannot hear the drive working away. Whisper quiet and read and writes at a decent rate when using it for an USB external drive. Drive is also very cool (temp) while transferring large amounts of data. Great drive!

I purchased 2 of these drives to use in a raid0 setup. I have been extremely pleased with the fast access times and extremley quiet operation. I will definatley purchase more of these drives when i build my Dlink NAS box in the near future. price/performace per meg is hard to beat.

For a 7200rpm hd these are great. I have 2 of them running on RAID0. Quiet and pretty fast, these are a great buy especially on sale.

Haven't had any issues whatsoever with this drive. It is certainly more quiet than my old 7200.8 Seagate, and outperforms it too. Would prefer to get an SSD but this will do great for my main partition for now.

Product Warranty
First 30 days limited warranty through NCIX.com. The remainder of the 3 year warranty is provided directly by the manufacturer.
Warranty length may vary per specific model. Western Digital Raptor and Caviar RE series enterprise drives are covered by a 5 year warranty. Caviar and Caviar SE desktop drives are covered by a 3 year warranty for OEM drives, and a 1 year warranty for Retail.
Warranty coverage for drives is covered by NCIX for the first thirty (30) days with the remainder of the warranty covered by Western Digital.
