OFCS – Oval Fin Contact Structure Introducing the newly developed OFCS (Oval Fin Contact Structure) achieves the greater contact area between the cooling fins and heatpipes, which make less heat transfer loss. Furthermore, by adopting the sloping fin mounting to reduce the overall volume combined with the ability to extend the airflow to various motherboard components simultaneously while cooling the CPU.
VFMS - Versatile Fan Mounting System / 100mm Fan By adapting the VFMS fan mounting system from one of the Scythe’s popular "Mine CPU Cooler", the default fan (100x100x25mm) can be easily exchanged to another sized fan with 25mm of thickness. (Some fans with non-standard structures may not be mounted properly.)

I bought this HSF to replace the stock on my E8400. On my EP-35 DS3L mobo, this CPU was showing over 65C with the stock HSF without a heavy load. Not sure if the chipset HS was throwing extra heat in to keep it that high or what, but I needed something different. Put in the Katana 2 after checking temperature ratings on the net and it certainly lowered my temps 15-20C. Not sure if it's the CPU or the motherboard, but temps for my E8400 are higher than most people report and my son's E8400 is cooler on stock HSF than mine is with the Katana 2 (using the EP43 DS3L mobo). In any case, the Katana 2 did for me what I bought it for, and that's to lower the temps down to a reasonable level. In all cases the HSF was installed carefully with Artic Silver and double checked to ensure proper seating on the CPU.

I have the arctic freezer 7 as well, this one is actually quieter and more compact, which is great for installation. I'm very happy with it as it made my build dead quiet. I think my arctic 7 pulls more heat off though and gets better overclocking, but that's just a hunch.

I bought this to replace a noisy stock P4 3.0GHz heatsink. The fan is really quiet and I was quite surprised by this. Lots of heatsinks claim to be quiet but aren't. For socket 478, this was dead easy to install. Temps aren't much different than stock other than a few degrees at most. I'm thinking that if this was lapped it would really shine. I'll wait for the AS5 to "break in" and see how the temps are then.

I have this in a Q6600 setup. 35C idle, very nice. Had problems installing initially (pins broken), RMAed it.

Used this on new setup, never used stock cooling so not sure how much cooler it is. Amd 5000+ running roughly around 25 degrees at 2.61

this is first thing I bought for cpu. my cpu was overheated. My pentium 4 was at 80degreese without overclocking. so i cought this thing and it just made 30 degreese

Order one for A64 X2 and it's totaly worth it. Keep cpu really cool. Low noise. Good overclock capacity improvement. I would recommended it for anybody wants to change a cpu stock cooling heatsink

I've just finished a through stress test with this HSF and I'm rather happy with it's results. I installed this on a GA-MA790GP-DS4H with loads of space around it. My case however (an HX-08), didn't like it much and I won't be able to use the removable motherboard tray with this HSF installed, because if it's height. It blows nicely onto the heatpipe of my motherboard, right towards my rear exhaust.

its a great heatsink and fan is quite when not at 100% speed, but my biggest complaint was installing this thing. the instructions are confusing and mounting method seems not so well thought out. cut my hand on a fin mounting this thing and would not buy again because of this, other than that its a solid heatsink for the price.
