Work with Windows ADS

Flexible Storage Management
CS407 allows you to create RAID 0, RAID 1, or RAID 5 volume on it. For budget-sensitive users, CS407 has the flexibility to assemble smaller hard drives first, and expand RAID 1 or RAID 5 volume by replacing existing hard drives with larger ones one by one when the budget is allowed.
When the hard drives on CS407 are full, you can expand more storage simply by attaching an external hard drive to the USB port of CS407.
Security Enhancements
Encrypted FTP allows you to transmit data using “FTP over SSL” or “FTP over TLS” option. HTTPS support encrypts all HTTP connections with SSL transport mechanism. Overall I'm very happy with my Synology products. I had initial problems with the CS-407 and failing drives. It was a no go trying to contact tech support for assistance. I finally traced it back to bad SATA cables and, once replaced, the unit has been humming along happily since. I purchased this unit in April, along with 4 500 GB Seagate 7200.11 drives, for use in a server for staff media in the office. (To get their photos and music off of my main file server.) Unfortunately the unit was horribly unstable, crashing often. I ended up RMA'ing hard drives, and still the unit was unstable. I attempted to contact Synology tech support on four separate occasions, and was given little or no help each time.
Great NAS device. Does a excellent job of keeping all my data backed up. Built in features (apache, ftp, php, mysql ,etc...) are all very handy. People with Linux and command line knowledge will really like this device as you can tweak, and install additional software and packages. Besides the built in features i have installed an svn and mail server.
Overall this is a great product and suggest it to any one that wants something more then just network storage.
