Pros Cost Effective Water Cooling Good Starter kit for getting into Water Cooling Fairly Easy to Install
Cons The CPU Waterblock has a slightly awkward mounting system. Only received six screws for Rad Fan (?) 3 Short and 3 Long
Summary I have been toying with the concept of swapping from Air to Liquid cooling for quite awhile, as I am sure many people have, the Price and the upgradibility of this kit really sold me, well it lacks a complete set of instructions, its fairly obvious on how it goes together, and I didn't take that long to setup, my only gripes would have to be that for whatever reason I only received 6 Fan screws, 3 of each length, and that the CPU Waterblock's mounting plate that slides overtop to fasten it seamed clumsy, regardless of adjusting it I couldn't quite get the block to sit straight on the chip, regardless it still cools extremely well, and I am overall pleased with the products included in the kit :)
Pros Effective cooling package at an affordable price. Expandable. Quiet. High quality.
Cons Thru bolts for mounting CPU block requires mother board removal. Package should come with the proper length screws to mount fan to the radiator.
Summary I have been looking at water cooling for a long time. This package caught my eye and i am not unhappy with the results. My CPU is colder during idle and after a workout, the CPU does not get as hot and cools back down quickly. I no longer have to listen to the cpu fan 'chug' away. The pump is very quiet and the fan on the radiator is one of the quietest i have heard. The package should come with the proper length screws to mount fan to the radiator. I had to rake thru my toolbox to find 4 screws for the fan - too long and the radiator can be damaged.
Our new pre-configured water cooling bundles are meant to provide new water
cooling users with a reliable system water cooling solution that uses only
standard parts with no proprietary connectors or components.
In configuring these kits, our primary focus is quiet, reliable operation
with the best performance possible. Running at full-throttle, the Essentials 150
is no louder than a standard case fan, and can even be undervolted for
Here's a brief run-down of what's included in the Water Cooling
Essentials 150 kit:
Magicool CPU Water Block: This is the piece that replaces
your CPU heatsink. The heat from the CPU is transferred to the copper base, then
transferred to the water
Single 120mm Quiet Radiator: The radiator dissipates the
heat captured by the water into the air. By eliminating small, noisy fans, and
using only 120mm fans on radiators, your system can run much quieter.
D-TEK DB-1 Water Cooling Pump: This is responsible for
cycling the water through your CPU block and radiator. The DB-1 is near-silent
and rated for 50,000 hours MTBF when most water cooling kits in this price range
include pumps with a 20,000 hr MTBF rating.
Yate Loon Sleeve Bearing 120mm fan: With excellent static
pressure and quiet operation, Yate Loon fans are the number one choice of water
Included T-line fill/drain/bleed system: Due to its
inexpensive cost and identical performance to a reservoir, the Water Cooling
Essentials 150 kit includes a polypropylene "T", which should be installed
between the CPU block and the outlet side of the pump for best results.
Swiftech MCB-120 "Radbox": The Radbox is a convenient way to
externally mount your radiator anywhere a 120mm fan would mount (assuming enough
clearance - please see the product description for the included radiator for
Swiftech MCRES-MICRO water cooling reservoir: This small,
easy to mount reservoir simplifies filling the water cooling system and bleeding
the air bubbles out of the water cooling system. It can be used instead of a
Swiftech MCW30 Chipset Water Block: The MCW30 is an easy way
to add chipset cooling to your water cooled system. Please check compatibility
with your motherboard before ordering this item
D-TEK Customs FuZion GFX: The FuZion GFX will use your water
cooling system to cool the GPU on your graphics card. It is recommended when
adding this upgrade that you also add Zalman ZM-RHS1 VGA RAMsinks
Zalman ZM-RHS1 VGA RAM sink 8 pack: When you cool the GPU
with water, you may also need additional cooling for your video card memory.
This kit includes enough RAMsinks for X1950/7900 series video cards and below.
It may be necessary to purchase an additional kit, or fabricate a couple extra
heatsinks for an HD2900/8800 series video card.
Swiftech HydrX & Fluid XP+: Due to the all-copper design
of our water cooling systems, additives are not necessary, but some additives
have additional advantages. HydrX lubricates your pump and gives your water a UV
green glow effect under a black light. Fluid XP+ is a non-conductive formula
that will not short out your components even if it is spilled.
*Special Note Regarding nvidia 8800 series video cards and ATi HD2900
series video cards*
There are components on these video cards that need to be cooled *besides*
the GPU and video RAM. It may be necessary to buy additional MC21
heatsinks to cool these other components.
