I bought the laptop to use as my my main computer and couldn't be happier. I wanted a new system that could play Call of Duty 4 and also bring to class to type my notes. The battery life is roughly over 2 hours if you fiddle with the settings, which is good enough for me. The screen is fairly low quality, but I have mine hooked up to a large monitor most of the time anyways, so it's no real hassle. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend to anyone looking for a gaming laptop.

battery life isn't all that great but I just plug it in so its not really an issue for me. Love the look of it and all the features it has. I sure would recommend getting it.

I am so impressed with this laptop, the performance is great, have yet to run into any issues with slow speeds due to "bloatware". The graphics are amazing, the keyboard layout is large, there is lots of room to rest your hands as you key and the sound is really good for a laptop.

I was very impressed with this laptop, i was very hesitant on buying a laptop in the first place but now that i did i'm very happy i did so. with the exception of the standard useless suite of programs that came installed with the laptop i have not run into any problems what so ever.
Set up was incredibly easy and the wireless worked straight out of the box which was such a relief for me as i have been having issues with nic cards and routers recently. the touch pad is very responsive the screen is bright and colorful as well i haven't run into any game that doesn't run smoothly on my system.

The first thing you'll notice when you pull this laptop out of the box is how beautiful it is. It has a "PS3-like" black finish with a sleek gray interior and attractive LEDs on the special function keys and power button.
In my mind, acer is the best on combination of price and quality. This phenomenal laptop never cases amazing me. The new penry T8100 and 3G ram make vista runs like fantasy. 512M Geforce 8600GT lets me have great experience on the most of popular games such as cod4 and css. The sound system is getting better, compared to the previous laptop series. Since this laptop is quite big(15"4') and the battery is only 6-cell, the mobility seems like to become the major weakness. Overall, it's really really good desktop replacement. Oh, by the way, I beg acer stop installing bundled softwares. Other than empowering, they are a bunch of crap. They are useless and slow down the system, especially trial version ones. At lease, give customers an option to choose if they want to install or not.

Where to start ... The price ... need i say AMAZING for what you are getting. The design is great, look great and feel great for the price of course. It’s quiet and cool while running vista and doing word processing. It start to make little noise and come hot when playing game but it's far from being annoying or burning the desk. Everyone at work where like don’t get this laptop it's going to be crap but since i got mine 2 people are looking at this page right now saying .... should i get one.
So far, I am VERY impressed with this laptop. Bang for the buck it has to be one of if not the best deal going right now. I too was fortunate to pick one up for the very reasonable price of $1099.00. The new design of this series honestly was not something I thought I was going to like. I looked at a few of the lower-end Acers, but they are no where as nice as this unit. The fit and finish is second to none (ok maybe Mac), and I actually like the new design and colours.
I got this on sale for 1099 bucks and it's more than I was expecting for that price. The 8600m gt is a pretty good vid card and overclocks like a dream. I could push it to 650/1300/430 without the gpu getting over 65. I'm not too sure that overclocking a gpu in a laptop is a good Idea but I wanted to see what it could do. Got a score of 4800 on 3dmark06.
Good overall build quality and this thing is pretty fast. If your looking for a gaming laptop on a budget this is for you.

I was one of the lucky ones who bought this beast of a notebook for the awesome price of NOT $1199....but $1099! Honestly, at this price, you'd be hard pressed to find a notebook that has 3 GB ram and a full 512 MB 8600M GT for this price. Definately can't complain! No dead pixels, low heat temperature, and ran amazingly quiet. Vista HP boots up really fast. It has about 2 hrs and 10 mins battery life and the keyboard keys, feel a little loose as you run your fingers across the keyboard, but that's ok. Runs universe at war on high at 1280 X 800 and company of heroes perfectly with little to no hiccups.
