The AMD Phenom faced a fairly rocky start, but the guys in green are trucking forward and have started releasing new processors into the wild. These new chips are of a different stepping, and feature fixes for many of the identified issues. Today were are looking at such a processor, checking to see
AMD is committed to bring quad-core to the desktop market in Q4, and we are meeting that commitment with the launch of AMD Phenom quad-core processors 9500 and 9600 (2.2GHz and 2.3GHz) on Nov. 19th. AMD is going to initially introduce these two mainstream AMD Phenom quad-core processor models in ord
Most of you are aware by now of the problems with AMD's quad-core Phenom processors. As we have chronicled closely, the chips were late to market and debuted with unexpectedly low clock frequencies. As a result, their performance was underwhelming compared to Intel's Core 2 offerings. Worse yet, sho
The B3 is here, and the X4 is back. This spells good news for AMD fans, as the Phenom X4 9850 showcases the latest B3 core revision, and at a higher 2.5 GHz clock speed. I bought this to go with my new MB etc as part of an upgrade. Right out of the box it has worked flawlessly and super fast. Never had any issue. Computer is left on 24/7 with the stock cooler (with the side off the case and a large chassis fan), and have never had a temperature problem. Highly recommended.

I got this chip when it was on sale for $180, and I've been relatively satisfied with it so far. Its pretty fast and quiet, but I've noticed recently that the temperatures go above 45 degrees on idle with the stock cooler so I might have to invest in a 3rd party CPU cooler. Otherwise its a pretty good chip for people who don't need the most powerful chips available and are satisfied with great performance at a reasonable price

Got this CPU a couple weeks ago to pair with my AM2+ board. Did a bios update before I popped it in, as recommended. No problems what so ever. Temps were much lower than I expected, though I have a Thermalright Ultra-120 CPU cooler. I went from a 5000+ BE n 3.2 to this CPU, and for the most part saw a negligible/mild performance increase in most games. Clock for Clock the Phenom is faster, but most games only utilized 2 cores at the most. While I've heard this CPU doesn't overclock well, I gave it a try. After 2hrs of tinkering and testing, this CPU was running 3.0ghz stable after just a V-core bump up 0.0125V. Have done plenty of stress-testing and it's rock solid. Have yet to take it any higher though. But some of these have gone upto 3.2 on air, and even 3.5 on water.

I purchased this because I wanted a computer that will allow me to do multiple things at once without having to wait for loading times or hang times. This chip does what I need. I can have a large software being installed, surf the web, download music, listen to music, change settings on my computer and it doesn't need time to load or hang. It's exactly what I wanted and if you like to do multiple things at once without having to wait for loading times this is the chip to get.

I really like this processor . Whatever bad things you read, forget it. I bought this processor to go with an ASUS 790X seriese and they work together great.I am not an overclocker but have looked into it and the user friendly ways to do so make it so anyone can. The stock heatsink is more then sufficient for stock settings. My processor runs at about 42 degrees.

I think this processor is great keeping in mind that i don't overclock as i don't really see a need to do so. Can run a lot and run it fast as is. I did buy a new cooler to replace the stock one because my friend said his was fairly noisy. Doesnt run that hot with good ariflow.
