Pros
Great Features. Fantastic overclocking.
Great bang for your buck.
Cons
Would have liked to see the side Sata ports like on Rampage formula. They make for nicer cablemanagement
Summary
Bought 2 of these for a friend and dad and i think they are wonderful for the price. Easily the best mainstream mother board available. They have all the great asus features and quality that i expect. I highly recommend this motherboard

cheap, reliable, and stable
Cons
none so far
Summary
Very popular for a reason - its a great board. Cheap, reliable, and stable. Used this for a budget gaming build, and no regrets here. Holds a q9550 at 3.6 ghz no problem.

would buy again (if lga775 doesnt get phased out by the new i5)

Pros
Relatively Cheap
Decent Options (sound/lan)
Very Overclockable
Cons
Poor cooling on Northbridge / Southbridge (stock thermal paste is crap)
Terrible time trying to get LAN working in Ubuntu
Summary
I purchased this a few weeks ago, for the purposes of overlocking my main workstation, and using a Core2 Quad 9650 (3.0 Ghz stock) with GSkill F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK (DDR2-1066 PC2-8500 2048MBx2)RAM

First off, I was impressed by the layout (as if anyone uses parallel ata / floppy discs anymore) and having the copper heatpipe on the north / southbridge.

The unfortunate part, is that the north/southbridge overheats at stock speeds. I was impressed by the use of solid copper - however the thermal paste (not really paste.. more like a rubber pad) insulated it more than transferred heat. Many people have written on the ASUS forums about this, and many people do what I did.. remove the heatpipe and heatsinks (easy to do.. just pushtabs) clean it off with isopropanol and used ArcticCoolings MX2 thermal paste.
Stock Temperatures went from 52c (idle) down to 38c (idle) on the northbridge from doing that alone.

If you're comfortable doing said work, it definately pays off with this board.

I clocked the system bus to 400Mhz from stock 333Mhz. This brought the ram to its intended frequency (1066) and the CPU runs r 3.6Ghz.

With the OCZ Vendetta 2, the CPU maxes out r 50c, and Northbridge r 48c (all stable)

I highly recommend this board for the intel 755 platform. Other than an overheating issue with the northbridge that is easily fixed, it's a solid board.

Pros
- Good performance, nice and stable in the hands of a knowledgeable user.
- Nothing too wacky in terms of color schemes, some boards look like carnival sideshows.
- Well-built, quality product, even the manual is well-done.
- Crossfire capability, offering the choice to upgrade to 2x ATI cards in the future.
- Great for overclocking, BIOS is decent.
- ExpressGate can be useful, good to have just in case.
Cons
- Some of the options in the BIOS, in terms of overclocking, are slightly annoying. For example, there is no explicit place to set the FSB:RAM divider, which can be annoying in some situations.
- Also, some of the features, such as Transaction Booster, AI Clock Twister, etc are not too well-explained in the manual, and can have adverse effects on stability.
- The LGA775 socket/DDR2 is getting to be a bit old, considering the new LGA1366 socket for i7 processors and DDR3. In that sense, it is outdated, and not upgradeable.
- x8/x8 performance in Crossfire mode, compared to full x16/x16 bandwidth in X48-based chipsets. This could put a damper on performance (see Tweaktown review), especially as video cards become more powerful.
Summary
Overall, this is a great product. It's very stable when properly configured, and offers some nice overclocking performance. It has most of the features expected from a motherboard in this price category, and is a great value considering what you can achieve with it. The board layout is good, and was nice to work with, no surprises/quirks. This thing is solid as a rock, I chose it over some known-to-be-quirky Nvidia-based motherboards, and haven't looked back. Recommended!

Summary
This is the second p5q series board I have built and once again it was a super easy build with no issues. Overclocks like a champ, thermal solution works well, and the bios is laid out perfectly.

Pros
CPU support, software for OC'ing, easy setup, well documented instructions
Cons

Summary
This motherboard is just a show of what ASUS can do! I ran a P4/468socket since 2004 from ASUS and loved it (still running today). This board will do EVERYTHING you need! Supporting Dual- and Quad- Core Intel 775 sockets s 45nm is worth the investment.
Good deal for an awesome board!

Pros
Excellent features/price whenever it goes on sale
BIOS is easy to navigate
Cons
Expensive when not on sale
Summary
I purchased this board for my Q9550 hoping to get some decent overclocks and because I wanted ESata for my backup drives. Right now my CPU is running at 400x8.5 stable and were it not for my CPU running at 70c under P95 (28c ambient) i'de push it farther. I will be removing my xigmatek DK this week and reseating it since I don't believe I should be getting those temps so soon.

Pros
Easy to install, easy to overclock
Cons
Most of the bundled software is crap (especially AI Direct Link)
Summary
Bought this mb for the first computer I built. Was able to overclock nicely and since so many people use it, I was easily able to find tutorials and guides on how to use the overclocking settings in it. Loved how it had the ability to go back to previous settings if the overclock failed.

Comment: We have just tested one more mainboard on Intel P45 Express. This time it is a mainstream solution from ASUS supporting DDR2 SDRAM. Its specifications make it a potential hit, but how good this mainboard actually is? Let’s find out!

Comment: Once again, ASUS has delivered an exceedingly competent product at a price that almost seems too good to be true. The P5Q PRO enters the mainstream market packed to the gills with great features. Many of these features were high-end exclusives just a few months ago, so it’s a tremendous achievement

Comment: ASUS made Asus P5Q Pro motherboard based on new Intel’s logic controller under the name of P45.

Comment: performance that is solid without ever blowing you away, and likewise features that are pretty well balanced for the level and likely price point of the board on offer.
