I got the Red PCB of this card from here on NCIX a long ago and it was the best card for the price at the time. It runs everything that's out there right now still as long as you don't set it to 1080p res. and with AAs off.

Any game cranked up to the max including Crysis, is awesome. On top of Crysis I have played GRID, COD 4 and COD 5 (COD 4 looked better) Gears of War (looked so good I played it again), Tomb Raider (the last one and Lara looked lovely too bad the game sucks), Madden 08, need I go on?
This hd4850 card is a good value and good performance for gaming. COD4 runs smoother in multiplayer with an average of 70 fps. I`ll probably buy another card for crossfire when price starts to decline.

Well, I got one of these just to find out after building my first gaming rig in the last 5 years that this video card was defective. It actually boots, but I saw blue and red lines all across the screen, and in some instances, you cannot even read whats going on.
I've played Portal, Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress 2, Bioshock, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. with all settings maxed at 1280x1024. I don't know what FPS I got, but I really don't care as everything's so smooth! I left it running at stock settings, but I haven't checked how hot it gets when I'm gaming. Honestly, I don't know how one would check. I looked at the Catalyst wizard-thing a few times before and after gaming and it says the fan was running at 37% and the highest temperature I saw was 41'C. Those temperatures might've cooled down a bit after I closed the game for a few minutes, so I still have no idea how hot it really gets.
This is a great mid-range card. I intend to purchase another one for Crossfire performance in some games (COD4 comes to mine), but even one by itself is surprisingly fast. As an example; in Oblivion I can actually max every setting with this card, whereas my 8800gt struggled when shadows, and distant grass were turned on.
This card has been meeting my expectations quite well so far. I knew I was getting great performance/price when I brought it, and I already expected the fact that it runs up to 75-85C under heavy load. The card is apparently built to withstand that heat, though, so it doesn't worry me. However, any attempts to overclock the memory beyond 5-7% causes issues that I believe are heat-related.
This card rocks. Well all of the 4850's are awesome performers. The Diamond version has decent temps 49C idle and 59C on load. From what I've read about the reference design of the 4850, this is pretty good. And the card is quiet. Can't hear the fan when idle and when gaming, the fan does speed up and you do notice it but it's not annoying.
