Bought this board specifically for HTPC Blu-Ray use. Choose some G-skill memory not on the QVL list and had nothing but lockup and blue screen issues. Returned it and bought some different G-skill mem that was on the list since it was back in stock, O.K. that problem fixed.
I purchased this board for a Clients new mini pc. This is a very well laid out board that has a quality look about it. I paired it with an E7400, crucial Ballistic ddr2f800 444-12x 4 gigs and an ocz modular 400watt psu in a Blue Gears cube and no vido card. This board has worked perfect right from the start I updated the bios and away we went ate up vista premium 64x. I read were people were having memory issues well I put that to the test I have mushkin memory here, so i put 8 gigs of mushkin accent f1066 555-15 no problem(f800mhz) then 4 gigs of xp2f800mhz 444-12 no problem and finally 4 gigs of emf 800mhz 555-18 also no problems with memtest or lavaly's. The only concern that I had was the chipset temps they seemed really high till I went on the Asus Forum and the temps were actually quite low at 56 celsius and under strees at 72 WOW. but the running temps can get as high as 135 celceius according to Asus tech without doing any damage. The Express gate is a great feature and my client really likes using it. Overall as a builder I found this board a very good value and would recommend this board for the appropriate applications. Also for sport when I was putting it togather I threw a 260 gtx it worked great and in the blue gears case it was in kept to a temp of 46 degrees cecius with the power supply fan mounted right above it and ran the vga in sli with the board no problem also tried the onboard hdmi no problems and a very good video quality and the soud came through without a hitch. I did alot of research on this board and comparisons with other chipset but the onboard graphics put the intel version the G45 with the x4500 chipst to shame in my opinion and for the price I found this to be a better value for my client over the G45

QVL approved memory modules NOT recognized by board. Tried 3 different ones from 3 diff makers. They boot alright, memtest fine, but unknown timing. Sandra shows the worst memory bandwidth, #5. CPU-Z can't read the memory at all, so good luck finding what timings are applied when bios is on auto. If manual, CAS4 refuses to boot. Period. Now running 5-4-4-12-2T. Depending on your CPU, you may be better off with a G31 (or 35-45) with a 3850 or 3870 (or better if gaming)card. Too bad the AMD CPU's are not up to Intel's performance. Whether it's for HTPC or not, a computer is still a computer, and memory addressing is an integral part of it. The engineers from ASUS and NVIDIA dropped the ball on this one; knowingly I'm afraid, which certainly makes it harder to accept...
