Again replaced a 7600GT on a budget game system. It's a vast improvement playing TF2 for sure! Great price bundled with Cryostasis. Considering the price I am very pleased with this purchase thus far!

I haven't updated my rig for a very long time, but my 7600 GT died on me. Was very pleasantly surprised to receive this 9800 GT as a replacement. I was worried that the rest of my system (3800+ X2 at 2.5ghz, 2GB PC4000) would bottleneck the card, and while my 3dmark06 score is relatively low due to my slow CPU, I am still getting very good performance in BioShock. At first, I was very disappointed as I was getting major stuttering making the game unplayable, but after some research, many Nvidia owners are experiencing the same thing and have to revert back to 178.24 to get proper performance. After I did this, my FPS never dips below 45 running maxed out with vsync on, and usually stays right up there at 60.

Needed a replacement for my x1900xt under Ubuntu, and ATI driver support was so crappy I was determined to go nvidia. AT 100$, this fit the bill nicely. Mostly for legacy gaming.

A good card that takes care of most games in the market today. Except for Crysis, which is still a measly 18-24 fps on a Core i7, all games run silky smooth. For the price, the card can't be beat, the Crysis smooth cards all run at least 50% more expensive.

Might just be bad luck but the 9800gt I got is a total POS. The first few weeks I owned it I had zero issues. Then suddenly while gaming I'd get random blocking or colours shifting (yellows to blue, reds to greens, etc) and lockups with the monitor going into "sleep" mode. Dealing with EVGA they said my PSU was not outputting enough power to run the card under load. 140$ PSU later (which is TOTAL overkill for this system) and the card has only got worse. Snow on the screen, flickers of colours, complete system halts, BSODs, even blue streaks in the BIOS menu down my screen. Maybe I got unlucky and have a fryingfried chip, but I've seen more people with these issues online after some searching, some have driver issues, some hardware.

I upgraded to this card from an EVGA 7600 GT KO, which had faithfully supported me for years. When I tried fitting it in my Antec P180, it wouldn't fit with my hard drives where they are now. It took about half an hour to figure everything out, move everything around, but it's all in there now, albeit a bit tight around the power cables.
