The
OCZ Vertex drives feature a durable yet lightweight alloy housing, and because
OCZ SSDs have no moving parts, the drives are more rugged than traditional hard
drives. Designed for ultimate reliability, Vertex Series SSDs have an excellent
1.5 million hour mean time before failure (MTBF) ensuring peace of mind over the
long term. All Vertex Series SSD drives come backed a two year warranty and
OCZ’s legendary service and support. Vertex series SSD drives are available in
ample storage capacities of 30GB, 60GB, 120GB, and 250GB.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Solid State Drives DO NOT require
defragmentation. It may decrease the lifespan of the drive.
*Consumers may see a discrepancy between reported capacity and actual
capacity; the storage industry standard is to display capacity in decimal.
However, the operating system usually calculates capacity in binary format,
causing traditional HDD and SSD to show a lower capacity in Windows. In the case
of SSDs, some of the capacity is reserved for formatting and redundancy for wear
leveling. These reserved areas on an SSD may occupy up to 5% of the drive’s
storage capacity. On the Vertex Series the naming convention reflects this and
the 30 is equivalent to 32GB, the 60 is equivalent to the 64GB and so on.
**Rated speeds are based on NVIDIA 680i chipset and may vary
slightly dependent on the benchmark used, drivers, windows version, bios version
and file size. We recommend using ATTO and PC Mark Vantage for benchmarking
SSDs.

First I'll start with the bad part. When I tried to install Windows 7 on this SSD, there were a lot of errors which differ from time to time. Upon upgrading to the latest firmware (involving fumbling with jumpers), it finally worked.
using this as an os drive for my htpc and i couldn't be happier, well i could if i had more storage drives in it. ocz really makes a quality ssd and it shows, its well constructed and it looks good, and operates as well as it looks. definitely a great purchase and NCIX is the best.

im using this as an os drive for my amd vision computer i built, its quite fast and for 75 bucks you can't go wrong. i like ocz products, they are quite good, and quality wise these are my fourth ocz ssd's and i have never had a problem.knock on wood.

Bought this drive to replace the mechanical in my new Laptop. Works flawlessly, even though I am having trouble enabling trim on my chipset, have not experienced any slow down yet. Perhaps the ocz automatic gc is working properly.

The sale price was amazing... 100 dollars before rebate. This is a significant step up for me from my Samsung F3 1T (1 of the fastest 7200rpm hdd's). Sure it's not as fast as the new Sandforce stuff... but for 50% less price, this is definitely a great drive.

- 4-stars because at the current price, it might make more sense to get the Vertex2 instead, since that one uses the Sandforce controller which is supposedly faster.
- Perfect size for a boot drive in a system which also uses some mechanical drives for storage.

Make my rig real snappy!! Bought one as OS drive and no more tapping fingers in front of the screen. With some tweaks the OS is down to 10G and you still have some room to play with. Best investment on hardware so far.

Can't go wrong with the price of this drive. If you want to test out SSD but don't want to pay the full price for SandForce, then this is the route to go.
This little addition made a big difference in my PC. Installed W7 64 and wow everything seems much faster. I think the biggest differences were boot and productivity apps like MS word, excel and the like. I have a few profiles setup and when I actually log in the background apps load super fast. None of that here’s your desktop but you can’t work yet because windows has to load all of your load on boot/login apps.

Bought this just to spoil myself pretty much, I've wanted a SSD for a while now. Plus it was selling for 99 (after rebate) which I thought was a GREAT deal. So far I am very impressed. Windows 7 starts up and shuts down verrrrryyy fast. Also things just respond faster overall. Games also load very quickly as well! Obviously there are faster drives out there but for the money this one is definitely worth it!
