Its the most cheapest drive now but it was the best when i got it and i have windows 7 installed on this drive and it my main drive. So i'm going to get a black wd drive for my primary for os to spped up things and keep this for storage. Otherwise its quiet and its blue. Great for storage.

Very decent drive, one of the cheapest I could find. Perfect for a budget build, performance is good but this is no high-end disk. Using this one as a boot drive in a Windows Home Server. Works, no complaints. Silent, or almost.

Had a 2TB drive that had been external storage, that I converted into the OS drive on a new build. Didn't like that setup, so I bought something cheap to hold the OS/apps/docs, and now that 2TB and this Seagate are in the same machine. I've had no problems with this so far. Some slower loading screens in Half Life 2, but generic use is still as fast as on any computer. Maybe it'll die in a year, but, so might any drive. If you want to save $5/$10 over an equivalently sized drive from someone else, you'd probably get what you pay for either way. This one just happens to cost less.

This is a great hard drive for the price that can usually be purchased on sale for a steal. The 7200.12 series of the Seagate Barracuda is a great improvement over their previous series of hard drives. I have used this on 5 of my builds now and would recommend it. It doesn't perform as well in terms of Read/Write as a WD Black, but it is significantly cheaper.
