A 500gb is plenty for my stepson who mostly plays games and downloading other stuff. Opening a folder or game load fast. He's happy with it. It's also very quiet, which is very nice. Would buy again. A 3yr warranty is awesome.

Get it if it's on sale. I've used both seagate and western digital. Can't really say which brand is better, just buy the cheaper one. Hard disk technology is very mature today and the failure rate is very low IMO. If you have more $$$, buy an SSD for performance.

great drive, good to see the prices of HDD getting lower and lower, love the .12 family alot better then the .11 family had some issues with .11 but .12 seems to be fine, i do find the .12 family to be a little louder then .11

Bought this drive for $50 and did not find any problems with it. Built a new system with it and it ran perfect. Dual boot is fast. Pretty good deal and would buy again.

Here's a nice, inexpensive place to store stuff. I use this with a n IDE to USB cable and keep all kinds of stuff backed up on it. It's been flawless so far. Seagate always makes a good product, so you can't go wrong here...especially if this is on sale. Just buy it.

the item is noisy as we can hear it. however, it is not that noisy. it is less noisy than hitachi 500gb, but more noisy than green 500gb WD. the item makes noise when spinning, while hitachi doesn't.

This drive is a big leap in quality over the 7200.11 series.This drive is much more quiet and I have no issues like I was getting with the 7200.11 series.I store loads of movies and video clips and this drive is perfect for all those big files.The drive has a 3 year warranty,which isn't as good as the normal Seagate 5 year warranty normally offered but is adequate.
