Pros
Price, Speed, Temps, overclocking and possible 4th core
Cons
4th core does not unlock (not a weakness, just unlucky)
Summary
Currently being used in my HTPC / Secondary gaming PC and the CPU delivers,

-runs cool and overclocks well.
-Reached a stable, 3.6ghz with a single notch of vcore increase.
-My 4th core doesn`t unlock but that`s a risk everyone takes buying an x3 hoping to get more.

Pros
Stable and quiet
low temperature
Cool n Quiet
potential O.C. ability
Cons
can't think of any for now
Summary
The 1st thing I noticed is my CPU temperature is much lower now than my previous CPU (which was a athlon 2500+ from 5yrs ago lol). It is idle at ~30C and most of time will not exceed 50C ( my case only has 1 120mm back fan). Cool n Quiet feature works well. I don't have much luck tuning up the multipliers at stock voltage, but I was able to unlock a working 4th core.

Pros
Cheap black edition
Easy to overclock
Cons
Small stock heatsink
Summary
This is a sweet CPU (It may be possible to unlock the fourth core). Regardless, over clock is simple using the multiplier. Would recommend getting an after market cooler as opposed to using the one that comes with.

Pros
- Inexpensive for a triple core cpu
- Unlocked multiplier for easy overclocking
- Runs fairly cool
Cons
Average stock heatsink fan combo
Summary
While the 720BE has one core less than AMD's high-end quad core Phenom II offerings, its price point makes the Phenom II X3 one of the best in terms price vs. performance ratio. With the unlocked multiplier, it is trivial to overclock even when running at stock voltage.

The only drawback is the stock heatsink / fan combo that is included in the package. While it is sufficient to cool the chip (25C idle / 45C loaded), it is quite audible when it is running at higher speed (~3000+ rpm)

Pros
Good performance vs. cost ratio
Cons
None so far
Summary
This was part of a ncix custom built system. Flawless performance so far.

Used in an Gigabyte MA790XT-UD4P AM3 board.

No overclocking done.

Pros
-3 cores at 2.8GHz
-512KB L2 cache each core with 6MB L3 cache
-unlocked
-on sale
Cons
-my motherboard is only AM2 and does not support this CPU, but it does work still according to sources, if not, i'll just get a new motherboard, not a big deal
Summary
This is going to replace my X2 5200+ Windsor.

That CPU is still good, but will be lacking for Dragon Age as that is what the recommended requirement is.

Plus when I get a supported motherboard, I will overclock it. The 5200+ lacked the overclocking capability. For now I'll see how it handles at stock with my current motherboard and heatsink (Arctic Freezer Pro 64).

I wasn't planning on getting this when I saw it on sale from the previous week, but once I saw it on sale again, I couldn't resist.

Pros
Low Temp
Hight Performance
Overclocks Very Easy
Cons
Price unless on sale
Low quality Heat Sink & Fan
Summary
When I first built my system I chose the Athlon II x2 7850 Kuma Core CPU BE as it could keep pace with a 720 at stock speed and cost 100 dollars less.

I perchsed the X3 720 to game with. I have found the 7850 can keep up with a stock 720 for sure. I have overclocked my 720. I realy haven't seen too much of a improvement over the 7850 IMO.

The X2 7850 is not so easy to find anymore and AM3 is the way to go so I am happy with my perchase. Got the 720 on sale for 135.00.

System Specs:

Phenom II X3 720
Gigabit 790X Chipset MB
MSI HD 4890 Video Card
4GB OCZ Reaper 1066MHz Memory
2x Western Digital 640GB (Raid 0) Hard drives
Antec Earthwatts 650Watt PSU
Windows Vista Home Premium 64Bit.

Pros
- Inexpensive
- Bang for buck
- Better longevity than a Dual-core
Cons
- Shorter longevity than a Quad-core
Summary
Used this proc in an HTPC build. Sligthtly overkill for that purpose but the comp is also for everyday use and it should last a few years. Great bang for buck. Great performance combined with MB Radeon Graphics solution.

Pros
Affordable, powerful cpu. Great for first build.
Cons
Stock heatsink licks. Triple-core may not be as future-proof as quad-core.
Summary
This cpu was great for my first build. I'm currently running it at stock speed on a Gigabyte MA790XT-UD4P mobo, coolermaster 212 hyper-plus heatsink, 4GB Corsair ddr3, and xfx 1GB 4850.

Great cpu for my first build!

Comment: AMD have started to use new 45nm core for their unique triple-core CPUs. As a result, there appeared a very attractive solution for the mainstream segment. And taking into consideration remarkable potential of the Phenom II X3 CPUs, we have every reason to conclude that it is going to be a new sales
