All multimedia material that we thrown at it O!Play played with ease and with good picture and sound quality. Compared to similarly priced devices it has few advantages: eSATA and data copying. Maybe most important feature is LAN support since it allows faster and more reliable data transfers compar
If all you want is a cheap media player for browsing your network folders and playing just about any file you throw at it then we have no problem recommending the HDP-R1.

I bought this unit to watch asian shows which are generally in RMVB. The WDTV doesn't support it. This unit is great, it has various language interfaces so my parents can use and after a few firmware updates, navigation is extremely fast. Strongly recommend for those who don't need wireless capabilities.

Absolutely the best media player I've got so far. I had doubt of it when I first got it but after upgrading to the latest firmware I like it very much. My other network media player WDTV+ext2boot+usb dongle was also great except it doesn't have very good support for windows7 and I have to switch to 24Hz mode manually. The other thing I like about the o!play is the detail information of the audio and video track, it states how many fps and whether it's DTS or Dolby when info button is pressed.

Network share doesn't work out of the box but firmware upgrade fixed it. I would stay at 1.11 for a while until all the bug is fixed at 1.13. For advance users, Asus leaves the Telnet port open for all that wants to do their discovery but that bring up security concern. For $100 to play HD content, open source pontentials and saving of 350W HTPC power, it is hard to beat. It is definetly great purchase for me.

Plugged it in with my monitor (HDMI), my USB flashdrive, and connected to my router. Everything works perfectly. I was a little bit concerned that it does not have a DVD Rom. But now I configured my PC DVD Rom as a shareable folder, it can access any DVD using the network. Network transfer speed is ~25MB/s, enough for my use.

Great product! Meets all my needs at a price I can't meet if I was to build my own. I'm going to be purchasing one for my parents and a second one for myself once they are back in stock.

The box is well designed and very suitable for shipping , the O'Play is well protected. The O'Play itself feels solid and has a little weight to it which is nice. Setup was easy...just a note that if you're hooking it up to connect to a DCHP source make sure the network cable is in before you power it up. It didn't seem to want to see the DHCP server even after changing the settings...a full power down/up is required ( in my case anyway ) for the setting to obtain an IP automatically.

I've had this for about a week. I say it plays "virtually" any format as it's been able to play everything I've thrown at it flawlessly. But... I'm sure I'll find *something* in the future that it won't play. I really haven't experienced any problems with playback.
