Forget gaming (duh) with an Atom-based processor. "The MAG does a great job with a wide range of HD formats up to and including seriously high bit rate 1080p content.
There is, however, a catch. Enabling the hardware acceleration bits on the Ion chip is absolutely crucial for smooth playback. Wit

I bought this to use as a HTPC (Home Theatre PC) which I have made a lot of use of over the past 5 months. Anyone looking to purchase this PC, keep in mind that it doesn't have an OS (operation system) installed so you'll have to do that yourself. Plus no optical drives (CD/DVD drive) which makes it a bit of a hassle getting an OS onto it if you don't have a USB optical drive at the ready.
This is a really good family room/media PC. Whether you are doing full blown Win 7 w/ Media Center or a Win/Linux w/ XBMC, it will do the job. It's a very versatile machine and has all the bells and whistles you can ask for in such a small package: eSATA, wifi-n, HDMI, etc.
I purchased this to replace my thin-client at work, so obviously this excelled at meeting my expectations and then some.
(I hadn't known this was the dual-core model until I unboxed it. The previous one I had purchased only had a single Atom core and 1GB ram.)

It's a fantastic HTPC and I love it. I installed win7 on it and it runs very fast. I also read some other people's reviews talking about bad wireless network but I did not feel. I am using it watching movie online and there is no problem at all.
Not decent but acceptable build quality. Generally happy with this, except for its horrible horrible wireless performance. Reading other reviews, other people were complaining about this too. I am actually really pissed off how bad the wireless performance is. Using a 15MBPS cable modem with Linksys 610n, this shitty wireless card only give me around 30kB/s download speed in NZB. Compared to around 1500kB/s I got from my desktop over the same network, I can't understand how can they release a product like this. This is more likely a design issue.
Got one of these the other week only to find the power cord that connects the power brick to the wall was the wrong type so I could not use it. NCIX was able to eventually replace the cord but it took some complaining on my part. Once I got the new cable I was able to fire it up and install Linux (10.x) and so far it has been pretty good. Downloaded the "restricted" nvidia drivers and everything is working well. GPU reports 56c idle temp but the box is hot to the touch. The atom seems to have lots of horse power and multitasking was breeze (when hyperthreading enabled and 512mb ram dedicated to the ION GPU). Only thing I wish is it came with a keyboard/mouse like the Acer Revo.

I bought this mainly for an HTPC setup, and so far it hasn't disappointed. 1080p video plays perfectly over a gigabit network. I haven't tested the wireless, so can't comment on other people's issues with it.
Purchased this for the sole purpose of hooking it up in my living room and plugging it into my Samsung 40" LCD tv for XBMC output. It has been running great so far, able to do 720p and 1080p output with ease, system remains quiet and cool. The only real issue with this system is the wireless card, it is very weak. In my setup, the system would be streaming all videos from my wireless router with an external hard drive plugged in, but with the onboard wireless, it would only connect at 11Mbps, which was no good. I went out and purchased a cheap Zonet Wireless N usb adapter, and that has worked flawlessly. Now streaming at 300Mbps with ease.
This is the perfect Ion computer to run a media center. Im using XBMC on Ubuntu 9.10 and it's amazing what this little machine can accomplish. 1080p video over network no problem. It takes 20sec to boot, it's fast in XBMC, and it's cheap.
