For more than 20 years, users have relied on Kingston Technology to help them save millions by extending the life of existing computers with memory upgrades. Now Kingston® introduces its second-generation SSDNow V Series drive to help organizations of all sizes and consumers enhance the performance of computers with a Serial ATA (SATA) interface and thus extend their lifecycle.

Adding a solid-state drive to a desktop already using a standard hard disk drive is a smart and efficient way to upgrade. Transferring the operating system and applications from the HDD to the SSD allows the solidstate drive to be used as a bootable drive that takes full advantage of the speed of the Flash-based technology. The SSD and the HDD then co-exist to drive optimal performance in the upgraded desktop.

For notebooks, SSDNow drives are a perfect replacement for hard drives, resulting in faster, more reliable performance. Making this change will improve a notebook’s efficiency in a wide range of tasks, from booting up to running the most robust operating system and demanding applications.

SSDNow uses a standard SATA interface but, unlike a regular HDD, SSD is very rugged and built with no moving parts, making it ideal for power users and road warriors who push the limits of their notebooks. Other benefits include reduced power usage, less noise and less heat generation.

SSDNow V Series drives offer performance gains and power consumption reductions at a fraction of the cost of a new system. For added peace of mind, they’re backed by 24/7 tech support, a three-year warranty and legendary Kingston reliability.

Comment: Kingston has really put the pressure on the other SSD manufacturers with their 128GB SSDNow V Series drive. With solid performance for an entry-level drive and $2/GB pricing that even SSD upgrade holdouts will find hard to resist, I have a feeling retailers will have a hard time keeping these drives

I've bee using this SSD for awhile now, and have enjoyed it. It really does improve your OS boot speeds a lot, and I enjoy having my large programs installed to it. Can't wait for them to drop  in cost! (Read More)

First experience with SDD I am happy with this drive all and all. I am using this as a experiment for my desktop OS, it does boot a bit faster but nothing jaw dropping running benchmarks and it destroys my seagate 7200.12 like expected. i went with this cause there was no, MIR but it is definitely not the fastest SSD out there i will probably stick this in my OLD dell laptop to see if this SSD is actually everything it is cracked up to be. all and all good drive price is fair compared to other SSD drives

follow up: after tweaking windows a bit i can load windows extremely fast have not officially timed it but its very fast i changed my opinion of this drive would purchase again!

(Read More)

Its a great SSD, made everything run/load much faster.

Bought it for $87, as an OS boot drive capacity is adequate for my use. There are slightly faster SSDs but for average users the difference in speed is not noticable. (Read More)

The speed difference compared to a HDD is amazing. I wasn't expecting to see such a boost for an older pc. I higher reccomend this or any good SSD for an older pc or laptop. You will not regret it. (Read More)

The 64GB Kingston SSD drive is BLAZINGLY FAST. Taking into account the computer POST once the operating system loads it takes 3 seconds to get to the login screen on my Ubuntu box. OpenOffice loads 3x as fast as a regular 7200rpm drive.

I bought this drive to use in a Mac Mini mobile installation, as it is not susceptible to physical shock. I was pleasantly surprised to see full boot time drop  from 45 sec. to 20 sec. in the 1.6GHz Core Duo Mini. Installation was straight forward - the screws from the Mini's old drive fit the Kingston. Total time to re&re was about 45 min. Overall, the Mini now seems much snappier, with all apps booting in a fraction of the time - ie: Safari boots to home page in about .5 sec.

I bought this ssd as my first ssd. Because it has the largest space during this price range. I am only not satisfied with the price. My is $115, but it drop  to $100 after 2 weeks. Now is $88.88. So I am thinking to get one more. (Read More)
