Pros
performance, temps, overclocking ease.
Cons
a bit on the expensive side, intel makes u pay for the unlocked chips.
Summary
Excellent cpu, great performance, really comes alive at around 3.7 to 4ghz, i took it all the way to 4.5ghz but had to buck off to 4.3 stable (as it as flaking out a bit around 4-1/2, not the best OC i've seen but close. With a triple rad and gtx570 on the loop it runs like a dream. High recommendations for overclockers and performance enthusiasts.

Pros
- Fast CPU
- Can OC to high speeds

Summary
Upgraded Q6600 to this CPU and the difference is HUGE. Have yet to overclock but still runs fast as hell.

Got it on a bundle sale with motherboard so was very cheap.

Hi all,

I bought this and until now is very powerfull.
I really enjoyed my computer with this CPU
The only thing that is negative...is that they came out with a more powerfull chip i7 2600 which is similar prices but better quality,...ohh well, i only got it for one month and intel came out with new series of cheap...cheaper and better...

Pros
Fast, no heatsink
Cons
Slightly pricey (compared to AMD)
Summary
Windows 7 recognizes this as 8 cores due to the hyperthreading, and I usually see it balancing the running to 4 of them at a time. Games run nicely on two and since it runs SC2 on ultra I haven't tried overclocking yet. The option is there for me in a year when I want itI got this in a bundle so the price wasn't that much more than AMD, and for most things it will slightly outperform the Thuban according to some reviews I read. This sure does fly when running multicored apps that will use all you have though! I put the big custom noctua heatsink on it so it runs quite cool in my HAF

Pros
This is the best chip I have purchased from intel.
Cons
The price could be better it was a big investment but worth every cent.
Summary
I am a system builder and have had limited expirience with most of the 13,15 and i7 both in 1156 and 1366 platforms and with exception of the 980x this is the next closest in my opinion. With the right mainboard you can tell the difference betwen the 870 and 875k. I am using this on a maximus III mainboard with all the overclocking bells and whistles and cooled with Noctua and Mushkin Ridgebacks 6-8-6-21 and with the clock on default its amazing to get such a speed increase without playing with bus speeds and voltages. I would recomend this chip over the 870 and most of the 900 series chips. The price could come down with ncix but price matched for $350 and good shipping.

Pros
Stable OC
Good Price
Cons
None
Summary
Was planned to buy an i7-860 but it came out at ~$300 in June, which is comparable to i7-860, so went for this one instead.

This CPU has unlocked multiplier so it OC likes king. However it does not come with a stock cooler so be prepared to get one.

Pros
Scale well for oc at 4Ghz
Cons
if used with air cooled system, it's not a big improvement over the I7-870
Summary
Performance look alike the i7-870, it's not like a "D0" version. Maybe with a good liquid cool system you will see more benefit to it, but for air cool no big differences then the I7-870.
Used with Gigabyte P55A-UD4P, ram G.Skill Ripjaw 2000, bclk set at 200

Pros
price, performance, easy overclocking, good for beginners, excellent performance at stock
Cons
if this makes any sense - it's less fun to overclock than the I7 920
Summary
-Nice overclocks on this chip with only multiplier increase. I'm running 27x multiplier at 3610mhz. I'm not going for any crowns, just a 24/7 overclock with power saving features on. so far so stable.

-I would use a nice balance of multiplier and bclk increases to get your desired overclock. Some sights I've checked indicate only a small gain in performance from a bclk overclock vs a multiplier, and then only for synthetic tests.

Even though I'm doing it at the moment, I'm still a little cautious about how increasing multipliers raises your tdp. On my old I7 920 it was all about the bclk and 21x mulitplier. With a 19x mulitiplier the tdp would decrease. Bonus!

Comment: A great review full of quality information. It also pits the 875k against more of the latest CPU's. 980x, 930, 1090T etc.

Comment: Out of the two processors Intel have launched today, it's the i7-875K that hits the mark on price. Sure, it's not going to set the world on fire with overclocking records but it does present users who are in the market for an all-round cruncher with a viable alternative to the AMD 1090T and

Comment: At stock clock speeds, the Core i7-875K is a better performer than the Phenom II X6 1090T—just a little bit in multithreaded applications, but quite a lot in single-threaded ones. The 875K is also a (very slightly) better value. When both CPUs are overclocked, the 875K retains its performance lead.
