Pros
Very fast and quiet
|
Cons
Small capacity
|
Summary
Bought this to use in my new PC as a startup drive. It comes with an adapter bracket to use in a 3.5" drive bay, as well as a case sticker, a sata cable, and a power adapter cord. It seems very fast so far, the only downside is the small capacity of the drive (40GB), but if you have a second drive it shouldn't be a problem.

Pros
This is good... pretty good.
|
Cons
Well, maybe a little more space would be good, but I choosed to buy a 40gb drive so...
|
Summary
I installed it to run my OS and main applications; the other stuff are located on a separate drive. You want speed on your computer? Put your OS on this, and you'll get it. Oh, and the mounting kit was definitively a good bonus :)

Summary

Summary
I'm using it in my new i5 quad setup just for the OS. I'm very impressed with it's speed. It is much faster than any hard drive I have used in the past. Also, it was very easy to mount into a 3.5" bay.

Pros
Fast and cheap.
|
Cons
A little small but this *is* a 40 GB drive after all!
|
Summary
I built my HTPC around this drive and W7. I'm getting about 193 MB/s on crystal disk and a basic i3 core 530 with 6 GB RAM. It's inaudible and helps load XBMC very quickly. No regrets.
If you don't need a lot of space and don't want to break the bank jump in with this drive.

Summary
One of the two drives I received kept triggering a SMART warning, and since it was past the DOA time-frame when I discovered this, I had to deal with Intel. I will not say that Intel's support is bad, but rather that Intel's "Value" moniker means that the product support is not as good or convenient as for their other products.
There is NO email support for this product, NO online chat support for this product, and while telephone support is technically free of charge, it is a long-distance call to the US. This being said, service was quick and efficient. The phone rep I spoke with listened to the problem, and told me they would have to replace the drive. This was a welcome relief from companies who make you go through the whole troubleshooting process, when it's obviously not something that can be fixed. The rep took my information, and to my dismay said it would cost $20USD for a cross-shipped RMA (this was not a choice). After trying to submit the order, however, she came back and said that they do not offer cross-shipping with this product... Since the drive's functioning did not seem to be impaired aside from the occasional stutter, and the idiot light coming on all the time, I was glad to save the money. So I shipped the bare drive off in a smaller box (cost roughly $12), and took delivery of the replacement drive two days after they received the bad one. The replacement was not refurbished from what I can tell, but it also did not fix the stuttering.
Unlike the other X-25V SKU, this drive comes with power and data cables in addition to the 2.5"-to-3.5" bay adapter. This is helpful, especially since many people considering this as an upgrade may not be aware that SATA is not PATA and thus will require different cables. The main difference between these drives and the more pricey M-series is that they has half as many memory channels. This not only means half the space, but also half the total bandwidth. I am running Win7 x64 on two of these drives in RAID-0 (therefore no TRIM functionality), and everything is quite fast and stable. However, since the upgrade my system has been experiencing some infrequent stuttering, mostly with audio - and as of yet I have not determined the cause. Historically, Win7, SSDs, and Chrome have all contributed to this issue so it's difficult to point the finger.
A final note: I have read somewhere that the drive's black plastic ring can be removed so it can fit into slimmer SATA slots if that's necessary. However this article did not mention that removing any screw VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY. Also the screw-holes are a fixed depth, so removing the black ring will simply lead to a loose cover and protruding screws.

Summary
This is my second SSD first was an OCZ Agility drive. I am using this as my boot drive for Win 7 Ultimate, in my gaming PC. I have a second 60 GB SSD for my games. Once you move to a SSD drive you will never go back, the difference is night and day. Do yourself a favour and get one of these as your primary, and load your apps on a separate drive, at this price you can not go wrong.

Summary
Just got mine today for $69.95 and promptly put it in my HP Mini 110 NetBook. This is the ideal place for a drive like this. Just some of the benefits;
-Zero noise (it's solid state) -Zero Vibration (ditto) -Runs very cool - this means netbook battery lasts longer because fan runs less. -Increases NetBook ruggedness - no spinning platters to hit the disk -Decreased weight - weighs quite a bit less then a regular HD so your laptop/netbook is even lighter -Speed!
My Mini 110 (on XP Pro) is getting 200 meg reads and 40 meg writes from this drive without the fan running - it's dead silent. It's too early to say if there is increased battery life to be had but I'm sure glad I picked this unit up. Intel SSD's are way easier to configure then competitors - it's basically just plug and play as you would with a standard hard drive.
I put together a little blurb on it on my site; (http://www.askmarvin.ca/forums/index.php?showtopic=8675&view=findpost&p=39918)
I'd highly recommend this to anyone who can live with about 37 gigs formatted capacity. If price is not that important to you go up to the $200 range and get the better version that's also larger. It will read and write at faster speeds yet but if you're ona budget or testing the waters you'll love this unit.
Comes complete with 3.5" mounting kit and SATA cable as well as a molex to SATA power cable and 8 screws and in install disk. It's a really high quality kit - you can't go wrong here.
