no moving parts
Cons can heat a little, goes out of commission fast compared to a physical HDD

Boy is it pleaseant to store date on such a device. But boy is it annoying when they burn out. which happens more often then real HDD. And boy is it frustrationg to revert to a HDD when it's burnt.

Nice and simple
Cons None at this price range

Upgraded the net book, nice and sleek with linux installed, no problems. Have been running one of these in another machine for over a year, with no detrimental effects.

- Price (Less than $1/GB)
- Fast for It's price
- Fast boot times
Cons - Speeds aren't that fast but you get what you pay for!
- Didn't come with a bracket and had to get one myself unfortunately

First time trying out a Kingston SSD but no complaints here as It's running as fast as It should be. No errors so far.

Very fast for a notebook/netbook, New firmware has fixed critical performance degradation issues, Very cheap and gets you near top end performance
Cons Not quite as fast as most of the other drives out there, 64GB model slower and shorter lifespan

After just installing a wonderful Intel SSD in my main desktop PC, I thought it would be worth it to try a cheaper model from a good brand name in my 2 1/2yr old netbook.

I'm glad I waited for SSD prices to come down, because this is a wonderful little drive. Yes, ATTO performance numbers are lower than models from Crucial/Samsung/Intel, but for real world performance in a laptop or netbook, this drive really shines for the price.

The impact has been unbelievable for my underpowered Atom N280, 2GB netbook. Where before Windows 7 starter was sluggish, Windows 7 Home Premium with Aero and all the bells and whistles turned on, feels very responsive.

Boot times are nothing short of spectacular. Resume from sleep is instant and it doesn't seem to have a negative effect on this particular model of SSD.

Bare in mind that the 64GB model is slower than the larger capacity V200s (as is the case with just about every other manufacturer) and it also has a shorter projected usage lifespan of 36TB vs. 72TB for the 128GB model. I really don't see how any common user would fill a drive over 600 times in under 10yrs.

As noted, I've only mentioned the effectiveness in the case of a netbook upgrade. Do I think this drive would be suitable as an OS drive in a main desktop PC? Yes. Even after putting a 180GB Intel drive in my PC, I realized after the fact that I only required about 40-50GB for all my most needed applications/games etc. The remainder could easily be installed to a mechanical drive. And since real world performance is almost negligible between modern SSDs, unless you're copying massive files all the time, it feels like a steal for under $50.

I would definitely recommend this drive to anyone looking to jump into the SSD world at a bargain price. Of course, I will modify this review later if I start to run into any issues.

Fast, low power
Cons None

Not too bad drive, initial impressions are good and what can be expected, will see in the long term how it holds up!

Experience: 9 Months

Fast. Liked it and would buy another one for my laptop.
Cons hopefully prices keeps falling down.

Bought this last year the V100 model for $80. I would certainly say an SSD is the greatest investment for the fast boot up time.
Recently updated to the latest version. Wish I had purchased more space.

fast, cheap, low power
Cons could be faster

faster alternatives are not much more money, but for the average user, any ssd will do. this ssd works great, boots and loads everything fast, has a decent capacity, and its easily and readily available.

none--product and RMA replacement was virtually non-functional
Cons dies under sustained load, dramatic performance drops even with mild usage

I was unable to restore my operating system to this SSD (extreme slowdown and reported errors at completion). The problem appeared to be a software issue until I tried just copying files onto it from my current system SSD. A copy operation which should take 5 minutes runs smoothly for about 2. After that, the drive activity light reduces to intermittent activity and the estimated time remaining exceeds an hour. Within 10 minutes the operating system is unresponsive until the drive is unplugged or Windows marks the drive nonresponsive. On reboot the drive has even disappeared from BIOS and does not reappear until removed from power supply for ~20 seconds.

I RMA'd the drive and the replacement was exactly the same. This behavior was without AHCI enabled and repeatable on broadly different hardware. The drive can't stay alive long enough to even set it up as a replacement for my current Intel SSD. A Crucial SSD that replaced it underwent the same setup process completly without issue.

Many others have complained about performance with this drive, but Kingston has yet to even acknowledge the problem. Do yourself a favor and stick with the reliable brands. Apparently this is rocket science, and Kingston, OCZ, and SF are using engineers hired from Elbonia.

None thus far
Cons Horrible speeds

Crappy firmware which results in horrible speeds. Unusable! My spindle drives are faster than this SSD currently.

Kingston acknowledges this fact...

Kingtson Customers:
We've recently discovered a sequential write slowdown affecting our V200 series drives. We have identified the issue and are diligently working on a fix. While performance benchmarks may seem slow in certain environments, real world drive performance should still reflect that of an SSD with swift application loading, quick boot times and shutdowns. It's important to note that the drive's data integrity remains uncompromised and is unaffected by this slowdown. We apologize for any frustration this issue has caused and we intend to resolve it as quickly as possible. We greatly appreciate your patience while we resolve this matter.

Guess what Kingston? I want what you promised your product would deliver NOW. They are called "SSD Now", not "SSD Some time in the future".

Experience: 3 Days

OS boots amazing fast from this drive.
Cons didn't improve my windows experience score. which I think is a load of crap.

I loaded my windows 7 ultimate OS, office 07 (word, excel and outlook) antivirus, burning suite, along with the million updates.
filled just over 1/2 of the drive.

Now wondering if there is a way to lock the drive to make it read only
