Pros

Overclockable
Cons
Can't take high voltages
Summary
Good processor for its time but now it's passed. I've owned this chip for a year, and unfortunately it came in with A steppings. Strangely enough, I was able to unlock the multiplier with a VIA board (A7V8X-X) and now the chip is sitting at 180*11 = 1980. =) This is still a great chip if you want to save some money! (However I would recommend the 2500+ mobile as it gives much better value for the money)

Pros

If you get a T-Bred B, great overclocking potential, plus low temps!
Cons
None. It works, that's all you need to know.
Summary
My 2100+ came to me in the guise of the T-Bred B variety. Further research indicated my CPU had been "downgraded" from a 2700+...

So, I tried running the CPU at 166 FSB, and uppping the voltage from 1.600 to 1.650 volts, and voilà! I had my BIOS reporting an Athlon 2700+. (motherboard is Asus A7N8X)

Asus probe reports a temperature of 32 degrees, overclocked, using a Volcano 9, at speed low enough to be almost noiseless.

Pros

- Cheap (picked it up with the weekly special)
- Fast
- Stable
- Decent overclocking
Cons
- None. You get what you pay for, and I'm happy.
Summary
I picked up this CPU last week and it's been running great at 13x154MHz FSB = 2002MHz or Athlon XP2400+ speeds. No problems with stability in the applications and game I have run on my PC to date.

To be honest, in most of the business apps I run, I hardly noticed any difference after upgrading from my XP 1800+ chip (1.53GHz). Some people asked why I bothered with a minor upgrade for the CPU - the upgrade was to replace the CPU after I moved the 1800+ to my second PC that my wife uses. But, when rendering a 1 hour segment of a friend's wedding video, the new CPU cut down the render time by 20 minutes. BTW, this was after I overclocked the 2100+ to 2400+.

All in all, I'm happy with the CPU. It's not the fastest that my old KX7-333R board can support (2600+ is the fastest it does officially), but the 2100+ is affordable, which is exactly what I was looking for.

System specs:
AMD AthlonXP 2100+ o/c to 2400+ CPU
Abit KX7-333R mainboard
OCZ 512MB PC2700 RAM
Albatron 4XAGP Ti4200P Turbo 128MB video card
Hercules Fortissimo II sound card
3Com network card
Lite-On 16X DVD drive
LG 48X CDRW drive
WD 120GB (8MB cache) hard drive
RAID 0 -> 2 x Seagate Barracuda V 80GB hard drives

Pros

Runs Cool, Very Fast Chip, Good OC Chip.
Cons
NONE
Summary
Got this Chip a mnth ago from NCIX. Ran it at stock speed for a couple of weeks and decided to see how far I can push this thing. It has been running stable now for a week at 2087MHz Which is just below a 2800+. FSB @ 166 multiplier at 12.5/13 on a MSI 6712 KT4V-L. Unfortunately to unlock the voltages you will have to do some work on the L5 bridges. As it is with this board you have to use a wire to connect 2 pins on the bottom of the chip to unlock the FSB and lower multuplier. The only drawback to this is the upper multipliers are not accessible so i am stuck with 1.7 Vcore and 12.5/13 multiplier. Some of this is probably due to the boards limitations as well. But if your into OC'ing, you will not be dissapointed. At stock speed my idle temp was 35C and with the OC it went up to 38C Idle and 42C under load. That is with the Vantec Aerocool sitting ontop of my chip. I did not test the stock HSF to see what temps it keeps this chip at but I would not recommend OC'ing with any stock HSF anyhow.

Pros

Good preformance for the cost
Cons

Pros

Fast CPU, Great Price
Cons
Noisy CPU Fan, Heatsink Base is not Tech Friendly
Summary
Retail package is great, only issues that I have is with the actual HeatSink, The Heatsink has a tiny hook to remove it from the Motherboard (Making it easy to slip and destroy your board).

CPU runs much cooler than my 1.1 Ghz Athlon. The price cannot be beat for the performance boost that you would get for a decent upgrade.

I now score 4000 points higher on the MadOnion's benchmarks than my old CPU / Motherboard.

Pros

Extremely Fast - equal to a P4 2.4GHz
Cons
Fan Sticker was not centered, had to peal it off for air flow, now works perfect. pvg P quit wining and peal the sticker off, no more noise! :)
Summary
This chip is unbelievably fast considering it runs at 1.73GHz and costs $166. Shiny PerfTest gave me 1092, over 4x faster then my P3 600MHz was getting(252), that is equal to a P4 2.4(600x4)!! A P4 2.4 cost $330 and is no faster. Don't believe me, well then check out PCGamer(June 2002, page 81) and realize that this chip ROCKS!!!!! AMD's architecture is more efficient then Intel's brute force, think Andre the Giant vs. Bruce Lee!

Pros

Works to spec, easy to install.
Cons
Retail fan is a joke!! LOUD! LOUD!
Summary
I installed the 2100+ on a soltek drv4 (after upgrading bios - easy) with no trouble. Installed with defaults works to spec and gave me ~25% increase in speed over my overclocked Athlon 1.2 gig. Not really that impressive, especially for the money. I was told the stock fan was quiet. What a joke! I actually make my living on my computer and listening to this fan is not an option. So i get to shell out another $40-$50 for a good fan. Message: DO NOT BUY the retail version. Save the bucks by getting an OEM version and then buy a good fan (that zalman flower thing sounds good).

I was able to overclock the chip with some simple bios settings and got it running at a little faster than a 2200+ stable.

Good chip, BAD, BAD, fan!!!!

five star CHIP
1 star FAN (5 star rip off)

Pros

Fast Runs Cool Beats the intel 2.2 GHz
Cons
Absolutly Nothing!!!
Summary
This chip is a great buy for your money. It will beat the intel 2.2 GHz and is alot cheeper. AMD knows what they are doing in chip making. There making them faster than intel and cheeper than intel.
