Buy Samsung solid state drives (SSDs)
This Korean tech enterprise has created some of the most popular pieces of technology for both consumer and industrial use alike. For the world of PC building, their SSDs are held in high regard and is known for its quality and reliability. Samsung draws a line between casual consumers and dedicated enthusiasts by releasing two versions of their solid-state drives: EVO for regular users and PRO as the premium option.
Arguably the most popular SSD, the Samsung 850 EVO in 250gb is undoubtedly one of the best drives currently on the market. The SSD features a 2.5” form factor packaged with a SATA III interface with their innovative Samsung V-Nand architecture, allowing for up to 540MB/s sequential read speeds and 520MB/s sequential write speeds for the EVO version, with the PRO model improving on the read speed by 10MB. The SSD 850 EVO also has a maximum storage capacity of (an almost unusable) 4TB.
But even these specs fall short of Samsung’s latest line of consumer solid-state drives. The Samsung 960 EVO SSD built for PCIe M.2 boasts an improved 48-layer V-Nand technology, M.2 form factor, and uses the new NVMe interface. In other words, this drive is unbelievably fast (3.5Gb/s sequential read & 2.1Gb/s sequential write for PRO, 3.2Gb/s sequential read & 1.9Gb/s sequential write for EVO). But this powerful drive should only be used by those who really need those insane speeds, as NVMe SSDs cost almost twice as much as SATA drives.
