Pros
- looks great - quiet as advertised - room for cable management
|
Cons
- feels cheap - awkward build

Summary
Moved into a smaller apartment and my HAF 932 was taking up too much space. I was looking for a smaller, quieter case. This had a couple inches on the Fractals and most of my peripherals are Corsair so I decided to go with it.
My initial reactions were to the feel of the quality of the case. The toolless drive bays felt very cheap and flimsy. My HAF with the side panels removed was very solid, this felt like I could break it if I wasn't careful.
The build itself was tight and awkward and I spent a lot of time trying to wiggle my fingers in through the HD cage to make connections. Some of the cable management holes were tight so a few of my power cables had to run loose across my mobo, the 6pin mobo cable especially.
However there was a good amount of room behehind the case to stash cables, so with the exception of my 6pin the rest of the cabeling was very clean.
After the build was done the case looks and sounds great, so I am happy with my purchase but was expecting more from both Corsair and a $100+ product.

Summary
I've owned a Fractal Design R4 and Antec Sonata III prior to working with this case, so many of my opinions are based against those two cases.
Pros: Corsair did a fantastic job of producing a quiet case with the 330R. It has excellent acoustics when paired with a decent CPU fan such as the Coolermaster Evo. The integrated fan controller is also a welcome addition as fan speed can be easily and conveniently adjusted on the fly. The quality of the metal is also evident throughout the build of the case. Thumb screws are highly useful on all the rear panel slots as well as side panels. The black matte finish on all the interior components give off a feeling of quality. To help builders, screwless 5.25" bays and hard drive bays are excellent. However, these are all made of a semi-flexible plastic that doesn't make me feel secure about their strength and longevity at all. It's still a neutral give and take. The front door is easily switchable to be opened from either side. This is now matched by the FD R5, but is an improvement over the fixed design of the FD R4.
Cons: Front door is finished in a titanium finish, providing a solid and cool-to-the-touch feeling when first handled. However, once the door is used more often, the plastic and cheap quality is exposed. In particular, the closing mechanism is terrible, forcing the user to push the door closed with a very soft and weak response. Compared to the magnetic closing mechanism on the Fractal Design R4, this feels like a no-name brand case's quality in regards to the front door. Even when compared with the much cheaper (and older) Antec Sonata III design, this case's door feels much less solid and reassuring. When combined with the false titanium/metal finish on the exterior, this leaves the user feeling as if Corsair tried too hard to turn a cheap case into an expensive one or tried to cheap out on an expensive case. I'm very surprised to see Corsair do such a poor job on a component that their competitors seem to have no trouble producing. Another significant knock on the 330R's design is in the lack of removable hard drive bays. In this day and age, with newer M.2 or PCI-E drives already starting to hit mainstream, having fixed bays taking up a quarter of the space inside a case is unacceptable. It was understandable for the 12-year old Antec Sonata III to have 4 fixed bays because 3.5" hard drives were not only the norm, but nearly the only form of storage available. But in 2015? Now with 2.5" SSDs as well as the aforementioned formats entering the market, there will be many builds which feature no 3.5" drives at all. In those builds, then Corsair simply decided to both waste 1/4 of the space with unused drive bays as well as block a significant amount of the air flow provided by the front fans. Excellent choice Corsair. Without sounding like I'm trying to discredit Corsair here, I should note that none of these cons are deal breakers for me, but rather minor complaints in the face of constantly improving competition ("ahem" Fractal). The current market no longer tolerates a "good enough" product because a competitor will inevitably produce a "good" product over the "good enough". Unfortunately, with the outdated interior design and a relative lack of innovation, the Corsair 330R feels very much like a "good enough" product that Corsair simply produced to join the party.
Summary: Overall a good quality case that can be found for a reasonable price, hitting the $100 sweet spot. Some of the layout will suit certain builds, such as the front panel facing forwards rather than up. However, the similarities with the Fractal Design R series are striking and the Corsair 330R can reasonably be called an imitation of the aforementioned series of cases. Unfortunately, in a direct comparison, the 330R loses more often than wins against the Fractal mainly due to the significantly higher quality materials used in the Fractal R cases. Note in point: the nice chrome accents on the R4's rubber feet imitates a high end audio/home theatre system setup, magnetic semi-automatically closing door on the R4, thicker insulation inside the R4, hinged front fan filter on the R4 vs. the loose fan filter on the 330R, and more. Thus, for the same price, I would undoubtedly pick the R5 over the 330R unless the slightly wider body or front panel placement are deal breakers. However, I purchased the 330R when it was cheaper than the R4 or R5, and at that price, I can see the 330R a viable alternative.

Pros
Spacious, quiet and attractive.

Cons
Haven't figured out how to get the fans controlled by the motherboard. You don't really need a mechanical control anymore.

Summary
Beautiful case, good airflow, with room to expand.

Features:Low noise. High performance. The Carbide Series 330R Titanium Edition starts with the award-winning original 330R, and adds a brushed aluminum front panel with a three-speed fan controller. It's designed for systems that will go into media rooms, bedrooms, dorm rooms, or any place where both silence and performance are essential. Sound damped doors and panels and clever intake fan design are combined with generous expansion room and builder-friendly features to allow you to build a silent PC that can pack a lot of power for gaming and high-definition media streaming.
