Lightspeed jump in performance for me! Verified OwnerVerified Owner

- Plenty of VRAM, handles Hi-Res Fallout 4 textures well
- Quieter than people claim
- Updated to R8 BIOS right away and run cool, haven't broke 75 yet.
- None so far, can't see any popping up!
I bought this card to replace my Radeon 6970, obviously a massive jump in performance right out of the gate. I am only able to upgrade bits and pieces of my PC every 5-6 years so future-proofing is important, and I feel like this card does that well. 8GB of RAM? Nice. Solid clock speeds? Nice. I did research beforehand and was aware of the heat issues with the R7 BIOS, and it was in fact running 5-6 degrees hotter before I updated it to R8. But since I updated it I have had no issues. Maybe I am just used to a louder PC, or maybe people are used to 0 sound but so far this thing running the fan at 50% is twice as quiet as my old card was.

Love that it uses less power connectors than my old card, it's shorter inside my case so it free'd up so room to manage cables, it's got DVI-D which I required because I have an older 120Hz Acer gaming monitor with no DP.

Overall so far this card is amazing. Playing Skyrim SE modded with all kinds of texture packs fine, Fallout 4 modded with insane texture packs fine, playing Elite Dangerous at max settings with no issues.

The heat/noise issues other talk about either don't exist for me, or I'm used to worse so I don't notice. So that make them a non-issue for me!

RX480 With Ubuntu 17.04 (Linux) Verified OwnerVerified Owner

The card was easy to install, the lighting on the side of the card was very nice and only one eight pin. When it works the games works with high frame rates. Playing games with vulkan support works really well with solid FPS and looks very clean.
No software that I can find from amd or gigabyte to control the software for lighting on the card. To install the drivers for the card with Ubuntu (Linux) was a real pain and should not be. If you have not been using Linux for sometime or new to Linux. It would be hard to get the drivers installed and should not be. I came from a Nvidia GTX 960 and there drivers worked almost out of the box. To the RX480 were the drivers were a pain to install and get up and running.
This card I found worked really well once you got the drivers and system updates done. It was a pain and not as user friendly to install the drivers as it should be. It would be nice to find a video card company with out of the box software for Linux. The card works great with Vulkan games and that was my main reason for my upgrade. I have been playing the new Serious Sam Fusion 2017 and get around 150 FPS. I can not fault the card and really gigabyte for the driver issue. It just would have been nice to see stable and simple drivers to work.

Works great in VMWare passthrough ESXI. Verified OwnerVerified Owner

Great drivers. It just works. Very quiet fans. Unable to hear them unless under extreme load and even then they are fairly quiet. Works perfectly in a gaming virtual machine on a hypervisor (ESXI).
A bit pricey but worth it if you can get it on sale or price match it.
My gaming rig runs on VMware ESXI as a virtual machine and I needed a video card that would work with it passed through natively to the VM. AMD supports doing this while Nvidia will not. I had previously used another older AMD card so I was confident that the 480 would work well too. I removed the old card from the VM and added the new one, updated the drivers and everything just works. No performance hit at all. Go team red.

Good aftermarket RX480 Verified OwnerVerified Owner

Temps of 70 degrees, with an overclock, and not a TON of noise.
Slightly louder than the MSI?
I know the reviews online are not the greatest. Lets get past that.

Its not the quietest card on the market, but with the newer BIOS revisions to the card, I have it overclocked even higher, with an undervolt on the card, and at 100% load after 1 hour, it hits 69 degrees. Lets call it 70 degrees. Thats still lower than the reference design, for the same price. And it has an 8 pin power connector, just in case your worried about the old power draw problem, but it also nice for the overclocking ability.

All in all, a solid card. And I say that even after RMAing the first card.

Outstanding and affordable Verified OwnerVerified Owner

- Plenty of graphics horsepower
- Stylish and compact design
- Silent
- Effiective cooling with BIOS upgrade
- 8 Gb of video RAM
- Overclocked out of the box
- Price is a steal
- Can't get Civ6 bundled with the card.
Excellent upgrade for my almost 5 year old pair of Radons HD 7970. Works flawlessly. I have not been disappointed by my previous Gigabyte video cards and this one is no exception. It just breezes through my games k 1920 x1200. Cooling is more than adequate with the F8 vBIOS upgrade, peak temps registered so far dropped from 81C (F7) to 73C while the card remains very silent. And I should mention that the currrent price of this card makes it an outstanding proposition.

Haven't succeeded yet in my several attemps to download Civilization 6, which is supposed to be bundled with this card. Don't really care, as I am not going to play this game anyway. Only wanted to give it to a friend.

Good value Verified OwnerVerified Owner

-Price/Performance value
-CIV6 Promo
-Run a little hot
-Took a long time to ship
It's a good card for the price & a good upgrade from my previous card.
Runs everything I need.
Seems to run a little hot.
Was a hassle to get... Shipping delays & customer services delays... But finally got it.

Great card Verified OwnerVerified Owner

- Fast enough to handle everything at 1080P
- Quiet
- Got Civ 6 for free
- Great price
- Update bios ASAP. GPU will run hot with old versions.
My old GPU is totally outdated (GTX 460) so this has been a night and day difference.

My final choice was between this card and a Zotac 1060 6GB. Went for this one because of lower price and Civ 6.

High power GPU at a mid-range price. Verified OwnerVerified Owner

Lots of GPU power. Will play Doom 2016 at highest settings. Good card for Virtual Reality.
Some people have reported overheating issues but my GPU was fine. A simple BIOS update fixes issues from what my research indicates.
Kudos for lightning fast service, I ordered this GPU on Black Friday and NCIX had it shipped and at my door on Monday night, Plays Doom 2016 at maximum settings. My GPU came with the F5 BIOS. Updating to the latest release BIOS F8 was a simple 30 second procedure thanks to Gigabyte VGAkBIOS tool. I had no problems with my GPU but I wisely updated to the latest BIOS as it improve the fan performance . I am very satisfied with my purchase.
