Basic speakers

The Z200 has decent sound, not the best but its better than cheap sub 20d set.
Not much sound quality difference between this Z200 and my other Z150 speaker. The "tone" adjuster doesn't make any difference.
I used the Z200 on my 42" TV since the integrated speaker has low quality sound beyond step 9 volume. It was cheaper than buying a sound bar and was placed behind the TV to save space.

-Plug and play installation
-Headset and aux jack on speaker
--Short audio cord
Easy set up and installation with these speakers. The work fine, and are what I was looking for in terms of wattage (as to not annoy my neighbours). The front headset jack is nice and useful. The audio cord is a little short at 4 feet and barely reaches my desktop tower.

Great Speakers

Crisp sound

they look nice
good price good build quality
Bought this for my new rig and mainly use for you tube videos and music and work great 5/5

Experience: 20 Days

Perfect for a small room/office setup.
Decent bass for the size.
Really impressive visually. Love the white accents.
Great value.
The power and audio cables only comes out of the right speaker, which may be an issue depending on your setup. Both cables are fairly long though.
I use these for gaming and listening to music while I work, and they are perfectly adequate for both. Don't expect big booming sound. They would look great in almost any setup.

Magnetic Shielding
Lack of grille
Nonexistent bass
Muddy/muffled mid's
Useless "tone" control knob
Fixed wires
From the unboxing, these speakers demonstrate a level of quality that is a significant step above bargain bin $10 speakers. The enclosure, smooth action of the volume control knob, and good length of wires all attest to assurances of a quality product.
Once turned on, the complete lack of static or hiss at any volume level was a pleasant discovery when compared to "free" or bottom-of-the-barrel speakers. The Z200 were also of decent size, providing a sense of getting your money's worth. The front auxillary-in port provides further convenience for an extra temporary input such as a smartphone or music player.

Testing the Z200 speakers was done on the desktop system either through the on-board realtek ALC 898 DAC or Audioquest Dragonfly v1.2 USB DAC ($150). For reference, the Z200's were compared to Creative Inspire T-10 ($60), Simple Audio Listen ($150), and Tivoli Audio Model Two ($400), all desktop speakers packing <5" drivers. The program used was JRiver Media Center 20 using either DirectSound for onboard audio or WASAPI direct output for the Dragonfly DAC. Finally, the music tracks used in the comparisons were predominantly mp3's at 320kbps CBR, lossless wav's, or lossleess DTS professional test tracks.

For musical quality, vocals were superb, offering wonderful openness and clarity. For example, Celine Dion, Evanescence, and GEM all sounded clean and simpler instrumentals were equally strong and solid.
Where the Z200 fall apart starts at the mid tones such as deeper instrumentals and male vocals. Europe, Richard Marx, and Sting sounded weak, lacking any punch or drive. Yes, there is ample volume, but what is produced is mainly a muddied mass of middle frequencies which the Z200 seem to boost in an effort to sound more powerful than a pair of 10W speakers.
The performance is, for lack of a better word, abysmal at the low-end. All the other speakers blew the Z200 out of the water in terms of power in the bass. In particular, the T-10, even when tuned for minimal bass, easily out-boomed the Z200. Any modern track with any percussion will reveal the Z200's worst trait in the form of a complete dropoff in auditory response past ~100hz. This was somewhat surprising because the drivers on the Z200 are of decent size so lower frequencies should have been possible. The T-10 was second worst in this comparison, dropping off just slightly lower. But both the Listens and Model Two were able to hit those subsonic frequencies which induce the thump more felt in the chest than heard in the ears. In other words, if you want bass in a 2.0 setup, you'll likely have to fork out the cash.
Another theme to the Z200's sound was a general roundness/softness. Where the Model Two was very punchy with a lot more bite to the sound (especially heard in upper frequencies such as female vocals and strings), the Z200 produced relaxed music that sounded noticeably muffled, although without the annoyance of the boomy box sound. This roundness likely contributes to the sense of openness in the Z200's music, easily beating the T-10 in that department and coming closer to the Listens. However, where the Z200 falls flat is in musical fidelity. Vocals were significantly flat without much character. Pitches and tones were spot on and actually pleasant to the ear, but the nuances and characterizations of each singer's unique voice was mainly lost in the Z200's reproductions. This was true through both the onboard realtek DAC or the $150 Audioquest DAC, so the quality of the audio stream as a factor can be ruled out. Both the T-10 and Model Two provided vastly superior musical detail, especially in vocals. Interestingly, the Z200 was reasonably close to the Simple Audio Listens in terms of detail, but that might actually be due more to the Listens' shortfalls in muddying the midtones than any accomplishment on the Z200's part.

Let me exit this review by gathering loose ends. Although the build quality was quite good, the speaker cones are completely exposed, leaving them vulnerable to physical damage. Most other speakers I've come across offer a removable mesh/grille to protect the delicate (and vital) drivers at the very least. Another negative is the lack of disconnectable wires between the two speakers. It makes for very difficult threading of an entire speaker through the back of desks in the setup process. Even some $10 speakers have the ability to disconnect the left and right speakers, so this was a very poor cost-cutting measure made by Logitech. Finally, regarding the tone control knob featured so prominently in the marketing, I found that it only made the sound worse rather than better. Even turning it all the way didn't help the bass a single iota. Possibly some lower-end midtones were boosted to a slight degree, but nowhere near the true low-end bass. So the sharp dropoff remains no matter what is done.

In conclusion, the Z200 are a decent pair of speakers at their price level. Without doing an AB comparison with better (and more expensive) speakers, I would enjoy the musical experience provided by the Z200. Definitely, with a hard-$40 budget, the Logitech Z200 do provide a significant step up from the cheapest speakers. However, you would be better served saving up another couple of bills for the Creative T-10 at the very least in order to enjoy music. The Z200 seem to be tuned more towards vocals and simple instrumental audio rather than full range audio. For watching news stories or amateur youtube videos, the Z200 will more than suffice, but for music, you may be disappointed by the lack of fidelity. As such, they occupy the space between the cheapest speakers packaged with most computer systems for free and more full range speaker systems such as the T-10 or a 2.1 system benefitting from the help of a large powered subwoofer. 3/5 stars
