Summary
I bought one of these as a spare since it was on sale for a very reasonable price (about $60) for a unit of this capacity, quality and features. Online reviews were consistently favourable, so it was an easy decision.
In the box, the usual accessories were included: case badge, mounting screws, and power cord (not always included with some PSUs these days). Aside from the modular cables, a little cloth bag for storing extra cables was included.
Although this may not be an issue for most people, or even some people most of the time, I was surprised to see that the modular cables used all black wires. This may be considered more aesthetically pleasing by some, but does make identifying the various leads more difficult, for testing purposes for example. Pretty classic case of function taking a back seat to form, which is a practice that I personally detest in principle. I usually test components after receiving them to ensure that they are functioning correctly, and with a PSU I jump the green power on lead and a black ground lead, then use a multimeter to test voltages. With this PSU I was forced to assume the locations of the required leads and therefore I needed to dig out a motherboard and connect that instead, just to be safe. But no deal-breaker, just an annoyance.
The manual is pretty basic and generic, and contains few pictures or diagrams. This would be particularly useful in relation to connecting the modular cables to the PSU, since what-goes-where is not intuitively obvious. Most people should be able to figure it out, but the purpose of a manual is to make such things clear.
The appearance of the power supply is certainly understated, with virtually no bling whatsoever. Personally, I don't mind this, especially since I have never owned a windowed case so I can't see the PSU once it is installed anyway.
This PSU is fully modular, including the ATX mainboard power cables. I find the latter entirely unnecessary, since connecting it is essential to the use of the PSU anyway. The main ATX cable is the typical mesh-sleeved bundle (and also typically stiff). The other leads are flat unsleeved cables, and they tend to be a tad on the stiff side as well.
Running, I found the unit to be relatively quiet, even testing outside of the case.
All said and done, Seasonic units are usually about as safe a bet as one can get, and this one checked out fine so far. I would definitely buy another at the price I paid, if needed.

Pros
Quality Modular Quiet

Cons
None

Summary
Note product photo here is outdated as the unit I received came with fully modular cables (M12II Evo model).
The unit has weight to it suggesting quality components inside I supposed. The build quality is excellent as I really enjoy installing it.

Pros
- Great PSU, high quality build - 5 year warranty - Modularity
|
Cons
- 4 pin power cable too short
|
Summary
Overall solid PSU. Just don't like the short 4 pin power cable, makes it impossible to run it behind the panel and now end up with a cable hanging next to the motherboard.
Even though it's Seasonic, I wouldn't pay full price for this PSU.

Pros
As an 80 Plus Bronze unit, it delivers energy to your components efficiently with less of it lost as heat. This unit also has sleeved cables, which makes cable management much easier. Another thing is this unit is partially modular, so again cable management is a breeze. The unit performs quietly at idle and at load; I've yet to hear it despite it being less than 3 feet from me. In terms of aesthetics, its nice and simple without any fancy colours, and will fit in well in most cases.
|
Cons
My only issue with this unit is that the cables seemed short, in particular I had a bit of trouble with the 24-pin connector. Although that may be more the fault of my humongous case and not the PSU itself.
|
Summary
I've always as heard that Seasonic was one of the top PSU makers but the price tag had always stopped me from buying them. After nabbing this baby on sale, I am convinced its worth the regular price tag. I've also realized that I can never go back to non-modular PSUs. Curse you Seasonic. Curse you!
