Summary
I bought this Western Digital Black 1TB around July of 2012.
I've formatted my PC 3 times, switched CPU, GPU, RAM, etc. and this drive has never let me down. It's 80% full of games right now (since I don't want to take the risk of using it for important or personal data at his age) and it still gets the job done like the first day. I only notice a bit of lag sometimes when opening files for the first time, and I get a "non responding" message if I click anywhere else, but it just needs like 5 seconds to recover.
I recommend a SSD for the operating system since this drive was rather slow to boot, but for other programs and games that don't have lots of loading screens like elder scrolls or total war I highly recommend the Black model.
Unless you get a bad one I assure you it will last at least 5 years no problem.

One of the few SATA drives that you can run 24hrs/day 7 days/week for 5+ years without having to worry about the drive failing. These are fast, reliable drives. I've owned many WD Black drives (100+) and the failure rate is very low. These are my go-to drives for building shared storage solutions

Summary
After 1 and a half years, this drive is still working very well, and is the main boot drive in my PC. (Yes, I've had SSDs before but they seem to fail all the time... Probably just my luck.) It performs exactly how someone would expect an HDD to.
Transfer speed is usually around 100-120MB/s, operation noise is minimal. I'd recommend this drive to anybody who doesn't want an SSD.

I purchased this HD just over one year ago, and it has already failed. (Along with another Western Digital that I purchased some time before that, so I am sincerely doubting the quality of WD products). Although I had read reviews that mentioned that this model made more noise than others, I was wholly unprepared for just how loud and irritating the noise is when you start up your computer (or whenever it's "thinking very hard" about something). Overall I'm very disappointed.

All NON-DEFECTIVE returns are subject
to a 15% restocking fee. No refunds will be issued for blank media,

Defective software, video games or DVDs
