Old Tusker
Experience: 6 Months

Works as it should. More range and power than the wrt54g.
After a few months of use, drops become frequent
Wired networking is superb. Wireless leaves a bit to more to be desired. After a few months of continuous use, it started to drop  about every 48 hours.

I'm using the stock dd-wrt fw that came with it and it's used for media streaming (mainly videos) and gaming.

Experience: 2 Days

Speedy, stable
difficult to set up, high power not clear
This would get 5 stars if not for the difficulty in setting it up. I only needed an AP as my DSL modem does the other stuff reasonably well, and i spent maybe 3 hours playing with settings in the ddwrt version of the firmware without success - after that I moved it to the "friendly" version and it worked like a charm. Otehrwise, stable and everything - though I have a problem actually seeing a difference in connecting from the difficult spots, just as with my old WRT54G... so where the extra power goes I don't know, but I did not see it...

Experience: 1 Years

Amazing wireless radio strength and performance!
Comes with DD-WRT out-of-box
Wireless connection a little unstable, reboots sometimes
I have the WZR-HP-G300NH v1.0.

I have been dying to find another router like this. I tried the AG300H, thinking it would have the same amazing performance with the additional benefit of dual band radios, but it performed terribly (50% weaker radio, 25Mbit turned into 1Mbit) and I had to return it for refund.

They just don't make wireless routers like this anymore. This has a Gigabit LAN switch and amazing 2.4Ghz 802.11n performance. If you can get the first version of this router, treasure it, hold on to it forever. You will probably never find one like this again.

Experience: 1 Months

Rock Solid Stable, Fast
I bought this router out of frustration.

I had a wireless router setup for a business, started with a US Robotics one that I got rid of and replaced with a D-Link. The D-Link worked ok for a bit but then started having issues, so I "upgraded" them to a Linksys which had to be replaced by NCIX twice as a D.O.A. units.

After that mess I was determined to get them the best router I could find "within reason" and this one came out as one of the highest recommended. I wasn't dissapointed, this thing has been flawless since I set it up. It is hooked to a pretty sketching satellite interenet service, and even though that system constantly fails, the router keeps on chugging along without problem.

I also noticed the wireless speeds throughout the business improved tremendously, although to be honest I did notice a slight reduction in range over the other units.

I have a Belkin N1 router for myself, and as soon as it gives me another reason to throw it out, its getting replaced with one of these.

Easy to use, Quick setup
Instructions aren't very helpful to first time users.
It's a great router. I got it two days ago and I'm completely satisfied with it. I've never been dropped when using my MBP and doesn't randomly disconnect me like my previous router. Setup was quick although I had to read the instructions several times over to understand as it was my first time setting it up, but I would definitely purchase this router again.

Experience: 22 Days

Great product. I upgrade to DDWRT firmware and it covers more area.
Use the DDWRT firmware to get the max features and antenna power.

Experience: 5 Months

Excellent Router & Radio. Flawless WiFi.
BuffaloTech's Tech Support is useless.
This is a probably the best Router I've ever owned. (I've owned lots of them over the years).

I have been using DD-WRT based routers for over 5 years now, and this is definately the best one I've ever used. I've typically stayed with Broadcom based hardware, but I made an exception for this purchase, and I don't regret it.

The radio on this Router is incredible. WiFi connections are flawless, and I get decent throughput. I make my routers work hard. (My network includes extensive VoIP and Media streaming in addition to traditional data traffic).

I highly recommend this router. An excellent value, and an excellent product. BuffaloTech's support for DD-WRT is useless, but the DD-WRT Wiki site provides all the support I need, so I'm not too worried about BuffaloTech's lousy support.

Someone needs to beat it into them, that switching to their archaic, poorly written "Friendly Firmware" is NOT a solution to anything. I bought this Router to get native DD-WRT firmware.

This is the best Router I've ever purchased.

Experience: 1 Years

Stability thanks to DD-WRT - Cant remember ever having to restart it
Range - Better then D-Link DIR 825
Gigabit - Makes me wonder how I could ever stand waiting so long when transferring data between computers on 100Mb
Before Buffalo released factory DD-WRT for this router the web UI was quite poor and firmware was flaky; however, now after installing factory DD-WRT the router is rock solid
This sums up my experience; up-time 97 days! Nearly every other wireless router I have ever used has dropped overheated or crashed on me every couple of days. Finally found a router that just works. I also have a D-link DIR825 which is also good; however, the range on the Buffalo is better. Also the transfer speeds are superior to the D-link when the distance between you and the router increases.

Experience: 12 Days

Good Signal, good speed. Runs DD-Wrt
When I rotate the antennas there is a lot of squeaky plastic sounds.
The router has good range and speed. It came with the Buffalo user-friendly firmware and I've flashed it to the Buffalo rebranded dd-wrt. It includes freeradius and I've got WPA2-Enterprise working. It could only connect up to 130mbps with the current Buffalo dd-wrt firmware. The plastic was also squeaky when you rotate the antennas.

Experience: 15 Days

Good range, speed
none for my purpose
Does what it's supposed to for my usage. Good range and performance within the house. Gigabit network works flawlessly.

Comment: A fairly comprehensive workup from the SmallNetBuilder website. Contains a good technical breakdown of the product and testing of throughput at various ranges and in "hard to reach" locations.
