At sale price, this is currently one of the cheapest 2x2GB (4GB) kit available. I have mostly G.skills in my machines and I intentionally purchased this "design" to diffentiate it visually from the ripjawX models. Timing / speeds are identical.
The only physical difference I could notice between this and the ripjawX (other than the heatsink design)is that this has a lighter green PCB. The ripjawX has a very dark green to black pcb.
However, despite being one of the cheaper sets, the price is still considerably high compared to 2011 (when I purchased a similar set of 4X2GB kits). At it's cheapest, 8GB of DDR3 was in the $40-50 range. Today, it has more than doubled.
Regarless, I still needed at least 4GB for a media pc machine that was going to be used entirely for playing and storing video / movie files. This still did the trick for me and G.skill has not disappointed me yet.
Oh and for some reason this came with a g.skill sticker / case badge (I know it's trivial but some people may want that sticker). All the other kits that I have purchased before (at least 10 sets) never had that sticker.
4GB is absolute minimum for a Win7 Home prem 64 machine. 8GB would still be the sweet spot
