grate price, supports up to 4 devices,
software not the best
this is a great little card, It can support up to 4 devices, i can run my 360 & GameCube thru my PC well recording with no lag with some adepter i can hook up my TV as well. I don`t rely like the software that Aver Media has but it works. I give the card 5/5

Experience: 1 Years

Excellent quality capture via HDMI and component (as long as you use your own capture software)
Bundled software is not so great
No 1080p
I use this card to record and stream gameplay from consoles (Xbox 360 via HDMI, and Playstation 2 via component, in each case using a video splitter). The bundled software isn't very good for recording, so I don't even touch it. Ordinary capture software such as VirtualDub works just fine, though. It's too bad it doesn't support 1080p (just 1080iz60 and 720pz60 max), but that's not a big deal for me. HDMI quality is perfect, of course, being a digital signal. I haven't tried any HD video through component, but for a standard NTSC resolution the quality is perfect.

I picked this up when it was on sale here for $80, but even at $100 this card is still excellent value.

Experience: 2 Days

Simple Use
Comes with 10 in 1 cable for HDMI
Crappy Software
Delay when using it while gaming via the Preview
Company support is lacking
I bought this on a recommendation, and I'm sort of half happy with it.

It was generally inexpensive in comparison to something like a Hauppage DVR, but you need an HDMI splitter, and a free PCI-e Slot.

The software it comes with is visually terrible, and it only has basic functions. The card also only saves files to MPEG (it does others, but the rest are useless).

-Lot of connexions
-Way to record HDCP
Here we go again, you have to fight to get your mail rebate. Tire of those companies that promises you something and they don't respect it.

Its been 5 weeks now, hard to contact, and they ''looking'' for a solution.
Since my last mail, no more news!

Experience: 3 Months

Amazing price for all that this piece of silicon can do
Capture HDCP-protected content via workaround in perfect full 1080i or 720p quality
Has every other consumer hookup as well (component, S-Video, composite)
You need to invest the time to find a capture program you're happy with
VHS capture very unstable, often can't even lock onto VCR blue screen signal
Check this forum thread to learn how to record HDCP content, specifically the most recent few pages: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1196020

For HDMI capture this card is perfect, especially if you ignore the included capture app and instead use something like VirtualDub with a lossless capture codec. Then you can encode at your leisure to a smaller format you can store, using the free x264 encoder for example.

It can't do 1080p but that's not a big deal since most games are only 720p (and have an even lower native render resolution), and there is no HDTV source in 1080p anyway. You can record in every other format: 1080i60, 720p60, 480p60, and 480i60. Also the PAL equivalents if for some reason you had a foreign source.

I use this to record gameplay over HDMI from my PS3. There is about 2 frames of lag, so if you're playing something really intense you will probably want to get an HDMI splitter. I got one from eBay for $23 shipped and it works perfectly. I was able to play Rock Band games without it but the lag effect was noticeable; I would have to time my playing by looking ahead in the note chart. I didn't notice the lag when just using the PS3 menu system or when playing games that aren't so timing-based such as Shatter or a 2D shooter.

I tested the component input as well but it didn't look as good, at least with the cheap cables I used.

They also market this card for backing up VHS tapes to DVD, sadly for this purpose it is mostly useless because it's too sensitive to the unstable signals that VCRs put out and will drop  frames or show a black screen.

I highly recommend this card if you meet the system requirements and have lots of hard drive space (they're cheap these days), and are willing to go to the trouble of "unofficial" programs for the video capture.

flawless HD playback
can't think of one
I have an eastlink hd receiver into the component in and a direct tv hd receiver into the HDMI in and able to watch or capture perfect.I've been using this for almost a year now so i figured i could give it a fair review.in my opinion it's the perfect addition to any HTPC.gives you lots of inputs and all selectable within the aver media center.

HDMI, component, S-Video, and composite inputs
used to capture console gameplay and sometimes it works.the HDMI, component, S-Video, and composite inputs was great to have.

Experience: 50 Days

None so far
Lags when capturing any kind of HD or component gameplay.
Bought this to capture console gameplay. Software that comes with it is not that great and use it with other 3rd party software. I have not been able to capture in full HD or using component without severe lag. Avermedia have been providing great support but as of the last contact with them, they stated that there are issues with AMD processors. My PC requirements surpass what they state on their website so I thought it was going to work fine. I am looking into a good HDMI splitter to see if it would help. So far a total waste of money. Would not recommend at this point.
