Pros
-fairly easy install -comes with paste and fan -very good overclocking
|
Cons
-little pricey -hyperthreading is still not used in very many programs
|
Summary
It's quite good the price is a bit much over the locked version but it does give a pretty good speed boost when overclock. I've got it sitting at around 4.4ghz stable right now. I would say it's probably you're best bet for a CPU right now or the locked version if you don't want to overclock.

Pros
Rather low power consumption for the speed and power you get. Very powerful. Many times, paired with the right hardware, these can be overclocked to insane speeds.
|
Cons
Could be cheaper at this time period.
|
Summary
Even if you're not planning on overclocking, this CPU packs a lot of bang for the buck.
Runs relatively cool even under heavy loads at stock speeds.
Very highly overclockable. Some folks have had great luck getting one of these CPUs to 5GHz or greater.

Pros
Handle high stress loads as well as the heat generated from it.Have not had a problem at all except CPU heat sink.
|
Cons
Under high loads and high heat the CPU FAN and heat sink want to pop off my sabertooth (MB)
|
Summary
Happy other then heat sink wanting to disconnect from Motherboard. Have order new heat sink with hopefully a quieter fan.

Summary
Upgrade to this from AMD Athlon II x3 450 [unlocked the 4th core! w00t] and LOVING IT! I think it's being held back right now as well due to a under-powered PSU. Once the PSU is upgraded as well, I know this processor is going to be a powerhouse.

Pros
-Very good performer for value -Great overclocking potential -Still a valid and solid choice even with newer generation processors on market
|
Cons
-None for me.
|
Summary
Very happy with this chip. Has given me results im happy with, overclocked it stable from its base 3.4ghz to 5.0ghz with hardly any effort, and most people i know can get theirs to 4.5ghz+ as well. Be it for multitasking or gaming, its a solid performer. Even now with Ivy bridge on the market, i still recommend it.
