Great buy if cheap enough Verified OwnerVerified Owner

proven CPU and hand binned for higher clock speed
good upgrade for an older board
Since Rizwn has come out that really should be the path follow if your buy a MB ram and CPU

You WILL NEED a very good CPU COOLER probably water loop (closed or open)
Have had a few of these over the last years, and when it was on sale it was a good value

Have had a couple "FAIL" (they weren't overclocked at the time and the water loop(s) were working well.

If your looking to give an old dog wome new life AND the CPU is on sale then it is a good value.

not so warm Verified OwnerVerified Owner

fast cpu, do what i want to
i cool it with a h100i v2 from corsair and it dont get hot, while playing fallout 4 it go max 55-60*C

Experience: 1 Weeks

-overclocks well (got it to 5ghz without issues)
-good performance
-it runs very hot. you need something substantial to cool this CPU
great Fx series chip from amd. it runs extremely hot so you better have some serious cooling to go along with it

Experience: 1 Weeks

Fast - if it doesn't break, It will do for 4+ years.
Price - got it for $210
Temps - Incredibly hot. Idle at 35C, at 12% capacity reaching 90C with air cooler. [Crazy right?]
UPDATE: Got the Corsair H55 and now it never reaches 56C. [Much better. Wish I knew this sooner.]
Cooler: Zalman CNPS 5x Performance
MoBo: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 AMD990FX
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 ATX
Cooler at full blast CPU not even 50% load this CPU reaches 90C. I don't know for how long this will go well for me.
I ordered Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H55 and will update  once I have tested my system with the new water-cooler.
I knew it was going to be hotter than i5 or i7, but definitely did not expect this.
UPDATE: Got the H55 Cooler and things are never hotter than 55C. I am now a satisfied owner, but wish I had known that I needed to buy a liquid cooler before... Now I have the Zalman kicking around.

doesn't run as hot as you would think,
if your board isn't supported, it does some wonky things
If you are going to buy this chip, do some EXTENSIVE research on whether or not your board can support, I have a 990fxa-ud7 which said it could support it, but unfortunately mine is a revision 1.x and not a revision 3 or higher, so if you have an older am3+ board ( my guess 2 years or older) that board will not properly support this chip, but on the flip side I'm using it anyway, and I'm having troubles with my multiplier at times, its supposed to be set at 22x and sometimes runs at 19x, but other than that, it is still running at 4400 Mhz, so if your board is incompatible it can still run per se but there it will be a little wonky. So in incense if you have a compatible board, it will run if not, the best you are going to do is the 8350 ( which you could just OC to 4400 Mhz no sweat anyway) oh and heat, this thing doesn't heat all that much from my experience, I'm using air and it idles at 29/30 C ( I'm using the heat sink that has a 120mm and 140mm fan on it; ps it's huge) so yeah, CHECK YOUR BOARD AND MAKE SURE IT IS COMPATIBLE BEFORE YOU BUY, if not, 8350 is the best you can get

Experience: 15 Days

8 cores..Runs everything you need for a very long time without an upgrade.
gets very hot if you were to overclock, need water cooling
I over clocked it and WOW, I mean WOW. I had used many processors in my life but this one feels to be the fastest and best.

Experience: 6 Weeks

Fast, reliable, cool running

Very pleased with this purchase, no issues with the core and where my previous core was bottlenecking my video card this one has been handling everything very well. I am a heavy gamer with a focus on performance and graphics and this is exactly what I needed. I picked it up on a sale but it's definitely worth the full price.

Fast, 8 Cores, Best bang for the buck in AM3+
Needs Hi End Cooling
Bought as an upgrade from my 6 core 1100T. This cpu is much faster and works better in BF4. I actually got a better frame rate of about 10fps just by upgrading to this cpu. The only issue is this cpu has a 220tdp which is double the power consumption of my last cpu and as a result gets a little toasty. You will need a high end air cooler or what I use (Corsair H80 or better) just to keep it under control. Idles at 36c and jumps to 55c during gaming with BF4, that's a 20 degree jump when it's wide open.. keep that in mind. Other than that it's worth the money in my mind.

Experience: 7 Days

Extremely Fast, Good price
Hot, apparently power hungry
I purchased this cpu along with a Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 Ver. 3.0 motherboard to replace my aging Phenom 2 965be. Ver 3.0 of this motherboard does not recognize this cpu properly and clocks the cpu at 3.8ghz. It did however set the right voltage (1.425). I am using a Noctua NH-C14 cooler and rather than cranking the cpu up to the proper speed I did 3 different settings. 1st at 4.4ghz 2nd at 4.7ghz and then a slight OC to 4.8ghz. I did not adjust the voltage just the cpu multiplier. I'm still running 1.425 volts and the system seems to be stable and running under 61 Celsius. At 100% the cpu will get too hot, but it seems to be fine during gaming and regular computer use whereas the cpu does not get fully used. My motherboard is telling me a peak of high 30's when gaming (which makes me doubt it) so I'm guessing it's in the 50's. I would definitely recommend a Water cooler (Corsair H100i) or better.
My windows experience scores jumped from 7.4 7.4 7.9 7.9 7.5 TO - 7.8 7.8 7.9 7.9 7.9 with just the mobo and cpu change. My system boots faster and is overall noticably faster. Very pleased with this cpu despite all the negative reviews about it not being as fast as Intel's and being hot and power hungry. This is one of the current best desktop CPU's out there. Don't let the Intel fanboys convince you otherwise.
