Good price for the performance... AGP wise
This card will make an old system tough for quite a bit as it is quite powerfull, and probably the best deal for AGP systems.

1 slot cooling is cool also.

A good buy

Experience: 16 Months

- Powerful enough to beat out a number of SM3 cards
- Scalability available as you can unlock pipes and increase speeds
- SM2 only, so you can't play SM3 only games
- Miss out on SM3 eye-candy
I got this for $330 on sale in 2005. I upgraded from a Radeon 9550 Pro modded to a 9600 Pro, and I noticed a huge difference. Not only could this play all modern games at that time in max settings, but it can currently play almost all games in near-max settings too, granted you don't use VSync or AA. I got this to work fine at near XT speeds (505/585). It works fine, and the full 16 pipes will raise your 3DMark score a lot and improve game performance. You can get a good cooler for it too, like the VF700 or the VF900, as that would help with the added heat when you overclock and unlock the pipes. I'd recommend this card to anyone who is stuck with an AGP based system and needs a good boost in gameplay, just don't expect to play in SM3.

Experience: 3 Weeks

-Great performance for the price (Lower then other Nvidia cards)
-Can overclock pretty well
-Looks cool in a case
-Not DX10 (But a good "tide-me-over" until they are a decent price)
-Can be loud for some people, but my other case fans are louder... Plus, it's nothing a little music can't drown.
-It can run slightly warm, but a couple of quality case fans quickly made it run cool.
-Almost had trouble fitting the powersupply cable into the video card. The tension on the cord is at it's peak- It almost was not long enough. Wish it was an extra inch or two.
I have had this video card for a couple weeks now, and I must say that I'm very impressed. I needed a video card that would be able to be put in my secondary computer for my other residence, and it was totally worth the $190 after tax (I got it on sale). Considering that this setup is 500 mhz lower processor speed then my main one, I decided that putting in a stronger video card would level them out- And it did more then that. I have been able to run even the most video demanding games on maxiumum quality, even though my processor barely meets the minimum requirements. All in all, for the price, performance, and the look... I believe this video card to be a worthy consideration to anyone trying to live the AGP another year for DX10.

Experience: 7 Days

Can be softmodded to X850XT PE, very easily
relatively cheaper than other AGP cards
will easily last for another year till DirectX 10 reaches full scale.
VIVO, with internal video input headder
great for MCE/HTPC systems
has only a single slot cooler, if softmodding to X850XT PE a Arctic Cooling ATI slicer 5 is required,
power hungry, ie has a full fleged power molex on board.
fan gets extrelmy loud
Well compared to MSI RX9800Pro-TD128 (9800XT) this card on average doubles the frame rate, and allows me too play most games at full setings, but since i dont really play games a lot, i find this card suits my purpose. Having flashed the bios using Dolf's X850 conversion guide this card becomes a beast. but the stock cooler on this card is insuffcient too cool the card to i purchased a Ati slicer 5 too keep it cool. In general i would recommend this card to anyone who is trying too extend their Pc's life for an year or so, till DirectX 10 is fully introduced into the market. Also too anyone who is building or wants to upgrade the VGA card of the MCE/HTPC system this card would be usefull too you as well as it has VIVO functions. I used this card in my system with these specs.

Pentium 4 3.06GHz northwood processor
800mhz fsb
1024mb ram
200GB HD
Ati TV tuner Elite
450Watt power supply

Experience: 20 Days

Fast AGP Card! Excellent OverClocking in my opinion.
Standard heatsink is poor quality. Out of the box temperatures running in a game were around 70 celcius.
I upgraded from a 9600 Saphire Atlantis. An amazing difference in speed and visualization. My system is a Sempron 2500+ overclocked with a 260 Front Side bus bringing the Clock speed to around 1800mhz.

Default Settings (500/500) I scored 5202 in 3DMark 2005.
Overclocked to (580/615) I scored 5895! That's a 11% increase in speed.

I did purchase the ZALMAN VF700-ALCU from NCIX to keep it cool. Default temps with the Zalman are 50 celcius in game overclocked.

I would recomend this card to anyone with an AGP bus who just had an upgrade not that long ago as I did to a Socket 754 or something simalar.
